I'd say that you go with DevCPP if you want a nice IDE for C/C++/all other GCC supported languages , along with the whole of MINGW , all of this put together in a simple installer .

I've used the Bloodshed compiler, it's easy to use and most importantly very easy to setup - you can be coding in 10 mins.

Seems to be a consensus that, as long as Im not about to start creating AI for Terminators, Java's probably the way forward the way forward.

So, anymore thoughts? Should i get Jbuilder or what?

yeah, get JBuilder (the older versions are really cheap and probably have all you'll need to start with) and a good book on java.

If I were you i'd give up on this thread, the geeks have taken over and are engaged in a bout of nerdy one-up-manship.

JBuilder X personal edition is still free. It's not awful - maybe you used one of the really early versions.
