I just saw a story from this weekend about 6 accused witches being beaten and nearly lynched in Mexico. The state police had to fight force their way into the town, against both the populace and local authorities to rescue them.

Judging by the names it's a West African family. There's been a rise in witchcraft and voodoo related crimes the last few years (I seem to remember the torso of a boy found in the Thames a few years back, with voodoo symbols carved into it). Probably happens in New York or other cities with a fairly large fresh immigrant population as well.
