KHANS BLOOD HALL (HC) – Dateline 2110BC
PEACE!!
After several hours of reporters eagerly watching, The Great Khan and his council emerged just moments ago with the news of a Peace Treaty with Ankh-Morpork. Details of the treaty have been sent to all members of the great council. Ambassador PLATO was quoted as saying, “This is a great day for our two peoples, and a great Victory for The Blood Oath Horde!”
While the exact details of the treaty have not been released to the general public of the Horde yet, it is known that the Public Works Department was put on notice that new road construction should be planned. Rumors are swirling around the capital that our former enemies will be supplying us with cities as part of the settlement. Efforts are being made by the news media to obtain a personal interview with the Khan or his representative in order to get all the details.
The people of Khan’s Blood Hall, who had been expecting a long and bloody conflict, were both overjoyed at Peace and somewhat disappointed that they did not get to see the full force of The RED GUARD in action. Anticipation of the, thought to be, coming battle was running high. One man on the street was even quoted as saying, “I pay all them taxes to the Khan and then don’t get no action from the RED GUARD? Guess I gotta cancel my bar-b-que for this weekend…” While there was some of this type reaction, the general mood of the capital is ecstatic as word spreads. The Khan’s personal guard has been summoned to the doors of The Wild Boar as a large and rowdy crowd has begun to form. Cheers for the members of the Great Council can be heard growing ever louder as the streets of the capital are coming alive.
Industry leaders were also said to planning a meeting at the Palace to discuss retooling for peacetime production. As the recent production has set new all-time records, it is thought that the Khan himself may become involved in this meeting. Unnamed sources within industry speak of plans for marvels beyond our imagination. One source commented that he “could see the day when every city had a centralized marketplace.”
Blood Oath Horde scientist were also said to be preparing budget proposals for the Great Council. With a time of peace coming, they are hopeful for a return to pre-war funding levels. One leading scientist was quoted as saying, “We are extremely fortunate that the Khan understands the value of pure research and the many possibilities for advancement that it brings. It is the feeling of the scientific community that we are on the brink of entering a new age. It is imperative that pre-war funding levels are reestablished or exceeded in order to achieve this as quickly as possible.”
From the mountains of Bloodview to the plains of Ta-Tu, the entire population appears excited about the possibilities that this new peace brings. The joy that the people are experiencing is only slightly tempered by the rumors coming from Blood Cell Headquarters of disturbing reports from inside Babylon. Chief Chris, as usual, had no public comment.
