	Free MMORPGS Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

Apparently there are few MMORPGs that doesn't require you to pay monthly fees to play - just purchase the software...

Guild Wars' one of them.

So far I've determined that Legends of Might and Magic are also free as well. However according to reviews, it also stinks.

I'm a cheapskate and a former mudder. I'm accustomed to mudding for free with occasional donations so the idea of having to pay an online fee in order to play a mmorpg makes me wince.

Do you know of any others? Have you played those? What are your thoughts?

I'm told that lineage 2 has some good free servers, but it's a crummy game, and the 'official' servers do cost money to play on.

For me, it's the other way around.... I don't mind paying a monthly fee, but that makes it really hard to justify the initial full-cost purchase.

Play guild wars - though it isn't a MMORPG it's close and free, and looks awesome.

I'm looking at that list, all I see is fantasy ones. Any futuristic ones like fallout? that's what I might enjoy.

Saw AO, I'll try it some time soon. Apparently my search turned up couple of free MMORPGs but most of them are... interesting.

I'm sure of them are good although not graphic intensive but cannot be arsed to wade through those stuff.

Am serious considering either NWN or Guild Wars for summer fun.

I have played it for about a year. My freinds play it all the time. I find it more interesting than EQ2 and SWG.

Tbh Guild Wars, AO and NWN PW, which can all be played for free, are probably much better than any of those games, with up front costs but no monthly fees.

AO technicaly can't be played for free... there is just a one year trial period for the vanilla game (which I thought was a limited time offer that expire a couple months ago... but maybe something else has been done). If you want all the expansions you have to buy and subscribe.

AO can be played for free, though I am not sure you can sign up for new accounts. It's not difficult to get one though.

AO+NW+SL+AI cannot be played for free, as you say, but AO can.

Been playing AO for a while last nite, it's interesting. A bit arkward but again I didn't play that much.

It's pretty old and the UI isn't as user friendly as newer ones.
