	Adult Swim Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Yes, I'm back. What do you mean, you didn't notice I'd left? Humph. Anyway, it wasn't my fault, my computer got busted and since poly lacks a "log out" feature I wasn't comfortable using the public computers at college. But I'm home now, which means you get to bask in my company again. You lucky buggers.

While computerless at a college, I naturally grew extremely bored and turned to TV for amusement. Most of it's too tepid to be enjoyable, but my enthusiasm for the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim program did increase dramatically.

Two questions. Firse, who else here loves AS? And, secondly, is it just me or does "Tom goes to the Mayor" really, really suck? It's not at all funny to me, it's just depressing. I wind up hitting the mute button whenever the ads come on, it's so horrible.

Robot Chicken, otoh, is freakin' awesome.

I voted for Aqua Teen Hunger Force

although I like some Sealab 2021, Tom and the MAyor, and Home Movies as well (and Space Ghost Coast to Coast ahd it's moments as well)

Can't stand TGttM.

I'm probably the only one, but I actually like Super Milk Chan. God that show is demented. It's made to watch while stoned or tripping, I'm sure. "YOU DUMBASS!"

Seen most of the Inu-Yashas, love Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, GitS: SAC, and Full Metal Alchemist.

I really hate Super Milk Chan. I want to kill it with an ax.

The Venture Brothers is a great show. Reminds me of a few Johnny Quest spoofs Cartoon Network dared to create back in the day.

ATHF is a fave, as well as Bepop.

I hate Tom Goes to the Mayor.

ATHF is easily the best, followed by Sealab, then the Venture Brothers, and finally Harvey Birdman. I don't care for the others. The first Tom Goes to the Mayor episode was ok. I hate anime.

The first half of Witch Hunter Robin is good, but after that it get incredibly boring and tedious.

Imran, I highly recommend you give some of the others a try, particularly Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Brothers, and Harvey Birdman. I loved Sealab and Space Ghost, and am enjoying Robot Chicken.

But, Futurama is the shiznit. I cannot ****ing believe I didn't get into it when it first ran on Fox. Musta been smoking too much crack.

ATHF, followed closely by Home Movies.

The guys who make ATHF first realized that their little crappy animation show was a hit when one of the SportsCenter guys said "it makes the homies say 'ho' and the girlies want to scream" on air.

I don't watch much of Adult Swim's original stuff, but I could definitely respect Sealab 2021's ridiculousness.

WHR is awesome, definitely one of my favorite series. Shame that it didn't seem to play quite as well in the States as I thought it would.

Qilue: It's a block of programming that the Cartoon Network does at night. They have their own demented unique shows, and generally top it off with some anime later on. Lately it's done very well for itself with Futurama & The Family Guy in the 11:00 slots, old FOX cartoons which were canceled before their time and were beating out the networks in ratings. Really.

I will say that I think anime distributors have dropped the ball at some point. Anime is growing less and less a part of Adult Swim (it was near all they had when it first launched four years ago or so, what with Cowboy Bebop;), and the window to really take it more mass market is fading a bit. The anime distributors here in the States like to keep things entirely too expensive; sure, the hardcore are not price-sensitive, but the vast majority of people are. Releasing a mere 3 episodes per DVD is not a good way to increase market share. (Then again, from what I understand, manga sales have absolutely exploded among the middle school girl crowd over the past 3 year or so, so I might be totally off.)
