The Persian Fleet, in Roman Waters!!!!

This is an abomination that should not be allowed to continue.

What say ye, Senators of Rome? Why do we allow Persia to trespass on Roman territory, and not stop them?

How can such a large fleet of ships be stationed in Roman Waters and nothing be done about it?

I remember the words of an ancient Roman emperor ... Veni, Vidi, Vici ... and then ask myself, would he have allowed such an atrocity, that territory that he had Conquered, then be violated so, by such a foe?

I cry, WAR, or at least a demand that Persia leave our waters and never return!

What say ye?

I leave out the Macedonian question entirely, purposefully. The point is that this specific atrocity should be handled, this turn; how. I ask not whether we eventually war with Persia, but what to do *this turn*.

Anyway I see no point in a Persian war at this time. We are not in a position to attack Persia at all, and even then the Gauls are softer targets. A war with Persia at this time risks our possesions in Egypt, including a unique luxary resource, since those cities are underdefended.

This is why a war with persia should include Carhago as our vassal in the Egyptan front.

As for the ships, the roman fleet is a joke. Ignore them for now.

Yes, despite my efforts to build a Roman Navy, subsequent Emperors saw fit to allow the Navy to decline into insignificance once again


From a strategic viewpoint, our eventual invasion of Persia should be on 2 fronts; through former Macedonian lands, and launched in the centre of their Empire using the city on the east of the Island of Wines To Die For as a staging point.

We cannot afford to be at war with Persia until then, as our few Galleys transporting the required troops to the island would be sent to the bottom of the sea in short order by the Persian Navy.

Bah, we have such a large army at this point, that Persia will fall whenever we feel like it. A single thrust at mainland persia is more than adequate.

My concern is primarily that it's frickin' turn 94, and there's no way we have the time to move into position by turn 130 (the end) to win completely. We'll win as in "have a higher score", but we're not going to destroy persia before 130.
