Really, there is no hope, no tips worth mentioning. Somehow the human race perpetuates itself, but in the west this is mostly because of white wine imo.

If she's sort of dressed up, compliment her on something she's wearing, but only once! Any more than that will start to creep her out. Don't say crap like you like her eyes or her hair. You can do that alot later but right now that will creep her out. Jewelry is usually the best thing to compliment them on.
Bottom line is to keep it light right now. |

All I can say is to not look desperate. If you get nervous or unsure, just take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Sounds cliche, but it kind of helps for me...helps clear my thoughts.
As for not looking desperate...dunno how to explain that. Don't trip over yourself to open doors and stuff for her, just make it look casual. Hmmm....
Lemme dig up something I got from Men's Health magazine:
quote:
1. Keep it clean...Being neat and clean is particularly important.
2. Lighten up...Listen more, talk less. Don't do the guy thing of topping each of her anecdotes with one of yours.
3. Smile...but it shouldn't be forced.
4. Have fun. "Should a man you just met be serious, comical, or romantic?" Hands down, Seinfeld gets the girl. They do not want long jokes or a practiced stand-up routine. Just some lightheartedness and some laughs.
5. Emphasize resourcefulness and ambition.
6. Be sensitive. Women want to know that you have feelings. You don't have to cry for them to prove it. "I don't care if it's the first date or if you've been married 100 years-you knock on the door and she looks beautiful, you have to tell her...I mean, she's worked hard on that. I mean, women have worked hours on that, and they've made it plain to me that they expect a man to be intelligent enough to appreciate the fact that they've put a lot of time in on themselves." That's part of being sensitive.
7. Project a personality. While women are drawn to good-looking men, good looks fail-as soon as a conversation starts-if there isn't warmth, sincerity, and general likeability to back them up. And, lucky for us, women say that warmth, sincerity, and likeability can easily overcome less-than-perfect looks.

Of course, this shouldn't be considered "the rules of dating", but it's something to think about and keep in mind. I don't know where you are in your life, just looking for dating-looking for a serious relationship-not sure, but it's all good. It sucks, but the best way to learn about dating and women is from experience...what to do and what not to do. I've had my fair shares of saying the wrong thing (multiple times) or doing something wrong....or even not doing something I should have.
But yeah, Ted knows what he's talking about. Believe it or not I still got that quote from before when I was just coming from a crappy situation. Thanks dude.
(oh yeah, good luck dude. And don't stress too much about this relationship, enjoy it. )

Elias, don't listen to these meatheads. It's a date. Don't over analyze it. It's just a date, and what's a date? It's two people (usually) going out to do something together, because they like each other or at least have opened their minds enough to give a chance to like each other. It really doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do, you get it? This doesn't mean you should take her to rat race, where you chase rats and get to eat everything you catch.
The most important thing for you is to know that it's NOT like a job interview. You're not there to sell yourself. Because if you sell, then you're giving wrong image of yourself anyway by pretending or something. Just be yourself, how hard can it be? Don't play someone else. Don't try to lift anyones image of you in their head by playing someone else, because then they might either like you for it or not like you for it. If they don't like what you play, hey it was a loss anyway. If they like, well, then you are expected to pull that role for the rest of your life? NO!
Be yourself, don't lie too much. Women lie all the time with their makeup and wonderbras. Don't do the same. Because we the men know it'll lead to nothing but disappointments, so you better hold that edge to be used later on. Also, the more unthoughtful you are, the least she expects in the future from you in marriage.
