It's mostly because, north of the border, winter is just plain colder. And Canadians like to complain about the weather. Combined, the average Canadian citizen becomes so depressed through the 7 months of winter that he or she tends to hibernate. And how does the modern Canadian achieve this state of suspended animation? He plays a Alpha Centauri PBEM with 7 of his closest friends, pushing dark and diabolical thoughts through his frosted-over brain and formulating elaborate schemes and plots during the long, frigid hours between turns. This continues, day after hellishly-cold day, until one player emerges victorious and, when the ice melts and the rivers swell with the blood of the animals that didn't make it before the air itself froze, he eats the frozen and eerily preserved remains of his defeated enemies, growing still stronger so that he might cut down even larger trees in the coming summer for the glory of the Great Canadian Empire.
And may God help you when the swarms of mosquitos and deer flies emerge from their loathsome lairs. God help us all.

How good there's always someone to blame for all the bad things.
I can imagine americans saying "blame Canada!" each time when something goes wrong.
And on the same a canadian looks at the smokey sky arriving from the South (where Chipits's industrial region lies) and shouts to the godfather above - "blame U.S.!"
