food that didn't work out Tired of ads?

few hours ago, I noticed I don't have much food. I had 6 fish sticks and a little bit of mozarella. So I put the sticks in the oven, let them come together first adn then put the cheese on them. Cheese sticks!

That wasn't a good idea.

Any other bad ideas, so we can all avoid them?

Once I came up with the idea of mixing yogurt into the eggs I was scrambling to make them extra creamy. Yogurt does not stand up well to heat.

The other day I tried braising a roast with vinegar. Had to use BBQ sauce to cover up that mistake.

Good lord, how long did you cook it for?!? I'm famous from my hyper-vegged-out soup, but I always have my veggies slightly underdone.

Crock pot is best for pot roast, else make sure to keep it moist... lots of work

I have screwed up almost every dish I have worked on, almost

one tip: always, always... season to taste at the end. If a recipe calls for x amount of some season, add half and then come back when the dish is almost done.

and, if you over salt, add half a potato and let simmer, the potato will absorb the salt.

I have a brassier. I just was using a smaller cut of meat than I usually have, and didn't think to lower the temp or lessen the cooking time.

I once ate at a restaurant in Springfield, Illinois.

I had what I guess is a local speciality there called a horseshoe. From the bottom up, the layers are:

texas toast

your choice of piece of meat (chicken, pork, ground beef)

french fries

smothered in what they call a special white cheese sauce

I got sick after eating it -- VERY sick and miserable, that I threw up in a toilet in a public bathroom and grabbed some pepto where I stopped to fill my car with gas.

never . . . . . .

ever . . . . . . .

My roommate in NY once made a veggie fried rice dish. But he wanted to have egg in it like restaurant fried rice often does. However, rather than cooking the egg first and then adding it, he added the eggs straight into the rice as he was frying it. The result was that the rice became congealed in this eggy mass. Rather nasty, I must say.

The worst was when I botched Mac and Cheese. It was the first time I had ever independently made it, so -- silly me -- I forgot to drain the water of the elbows before mixing in the butter, milk, and cheese mix. Basically, I ate macaronni and cheese-water.

Er... that's how you are supposed to do it.

I've done it plenty of times. You need a fairly hot wok and to keep stirring all the time.

Sounds like he might have added too much egg? I'd probably do 1 egg for every two people sharing the rice.

Not really but you can do it like that. Normally you split the white and yellow and cook them first in the same wok, then add the rest.

So far the worst thing I've done was when I wanted to have hot cocoa so I filled cold cocoa into my microwave to heat it up
Usually this is the right way to do it (when making it for one person), but in this case I gave it 10 sec too much so it all exploded (not the microwave, just the cocoa) and was a mess to clean up

Like I said, you can. The one thing you need to look out for is to use cold rice (preferable rinced, a big nono when just boiling it).
