Unit Naming Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

So far, warriors seem to be anything, and Bowmen are named after our own members.

How do we want to do the defensive (Spear->Pike->Etc) and mounted (Horse->Knight->Cavalry) chains?

I propose we name the mounted units after Babylon 5 characters.

More specificly the heros.

So the one we just built would be Sinclair.
The one to complete next turn would be Sheridan.
I guess Ivana would be the 3rd horseman.

Put an end to popups!

If you need inspiration for 'regular' names, check this one:

http://www.preople.com/?r=more_global

This is a list of people whose names occur most frequently on the internet. We could use their first names.

I always liked supermodel or actress names - Elle, Heidi, Natasha, and the like.

I see we share similar tastes. I loved the dark universe shows where Hoshi took over.

But whatever way we go - we have to have Uma as part of the crwod.

I didn't much care for the dark universe shows since they had no bearing on what's going on in the "real" universe. (Ok, one of the ship thats were lost and never seen again happens to have gone to the dark universe [and back in time there], that's it.)

I also didn't much care for the alternate 1940s episodes since they also had no bearing on the real timetime.

I liked the most the bits about the inital steps of forming the Federation and the explaination of why Klingons look different in TOS that all the other series.

Beta suggested we name the workers with random 5-digit numbers.

That should keep us for a while.

As we see below, servant is "Aved". Should our workers be "Aved 58147" instead of "BW58147"?

More Babylonian names...
http://www.bridgesforpeace.com/publ...Article-13.html

Belteshazzar - Daniel's new name consisted of Bel. being another name for the god Marduk. The name Belteshazzar means "May god protect his life."

Shadrach - In Hananiah's new name the last -ach is another form of Achu, the Sumerian moon god-a lesser diety in the pantheon of Babylonian gods. Interestingly, his symbol was a moon crescent.

Meshach - In Mishael's new name, as well, the -ach on the end of his name also indicates the god Achu, and one notices the -me or -mi meaning "who" and the -sha meaning "is like." His name means, "Who is like Achu?"

Avednego - Azariah's new name consists of Aved meaning "servant" -nego means "of Nebo." The name then means "the servant of Nebo." Nego is another name for Nebo or Nebu, after whom Nebuchadnezzar is also named.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I generated a new list of numbers that only go up to 3 digits. No offense, it's just I doubt we'll ever need more than 999 workers, and 3-digit numbers will be easier to handle.

Per E_T's request, the next 10 worker numbers:

454
643
088
217
189
989
325
980
636
408

Also, how do we want to name catapults?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Does anybody feel like explaining the worker naming system to me? I mean, isnīt it much more complicated to have random numbers than simply counting upwards?
Of course, it will confuse our enemies, but with 100 workers we will surely have double uses of certain names because of the random picks...

I think if we have a duplicate name/number we go onto the next. We don't want to use incremental numbers.

We could come up with a list of actual names for workers.

OK. The famous rock list is a bad idea for catapults. Other than Ayres and Gilbraltar, I can't find many.

We could name the catapults like this:
So and so's hammer
Fist of someone
This god's anvil

Or (we do I suggest these things?) we could name the cats after famous cats.
Tom (and Jerry)
Felix
Oil Can Harry
Morris
Snowball 1-6
Duchess
Jose DelGato
Yes someone has already compiled a list:
http://www.citizenlunchbox.com/famous/cats.html

But this has nothing to do with Babylon.

OR...
We could name the cats after the city it is to rain doom on.

I like BFM's suggestion. "Tosses..." random things.

"Tosses Wooden Rabbits" should definitely be used. Have to fit in a Monty Python reference somewhere.

The random number generator I used had a setting to avoid duplication, so we should be okay on duplicates.

And yes, it will leave the other teams without a worker count, which is the idea.

But then, giving those workers actual names will do the same trick, right?

How about three-letters names?
- Urk
- Bah
- Gee
- Nog
- Foi
- Lea
- Gor
- Tar
- Sid
- Ned
- Pal
- Nut

I love the idea of naming our cats "tosses ..."

Also for warring units Iīd love to have some types named "xxx brigade" with xxx being an animal or something. Maybe it would fit for spearmen? IIRC we still donīt have a method for naming those anyway...
