What are the social and economic implications for the US of the increasing # of men.. Got spare money?

...going overseas to find wives?

For instance, just in our small town in the Phils there are about 10 American men living with their Filipina wives. Lots of others from this small town are in the US with their husbands and sending home a portion of their paychecks.

Also American men are finding brides in diverse places such as Russia and Chile.

Can you foresee an economic effect of all these $ flowing overseas? How about a social effect of so many men marrying foriegners?

I don't think it would be near enough to cover the the amount foreign countries spend to absorb our debt so that can continue to make cheap keychains to send to us.

Got spare money?

I don't think it's even on the radar. There are about 2.5 million marriages in the US each year. If the number of US men seeking overseas brides was even 1% of this, I'd be shocked. On top of this, you're assuming that all of those result in money flowing out of the US, rather than the foreign bride relocating to the States. I'd say in the vast majority of cases, it would be the other way around.

well our women should hopefully tone down their crap and it will even out. I believe the divorce rate of US-foreign marriages is much lower. I have read that but can't cite it.

Social implications-- even more older women are single and alone in America with the combination of the difference in the gender's death rates plus this influx of women. Younger men in foreign countries will find it harder to find a mate. Frustrated older American women will start the same phenomenon such that many Americans in their 40s through their 60s will have much younger foreign born spouses

I wouldn't bet on this, immigration has ALWAYS involved more men than women and I'm sure that there are more male immigrants than female ones to America even today. Also I'd be willing be bet that far more men than women leave America (just look at any expat community)...

I don't have any figures on how many men go overseas.

One thing about those that come here to stay, they send $ home to look after their families.

Suffering from ads?

Spreading diplomacy the old fashioned way.

I do know that these marriages have a very low divorce rate, something like 15% or 25% as opposed to 50-60% for the mainstream.

It feels like 80% divorce rate where I live.

I think Asia's overpopulation of Men is a greater problem.

Heck, if too many guys are leaving the US, we can always export tens of millions from China without problem.
