	Member List for UN: Please Confirm! Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

3 teams have now posted their leader and roster info at the UN(PAL, CGN, C3B).

Here's an updated list (last update 12/8/03), as far as I can tell. The asterisk(*) people are those who requested membership, but didn't get verbal authorization in the thread.

If anyone is missing from this list, please stand and be counted. If you know of someone who no longer belongs on this list, please state it here.

Ok, here's the list. We have 82 "active" memebrs who have been authorized and we have 12 whom are "pending". We also have 3 whom may "authorize".

"Pending"= They have not been authorized into the Civ Group though they have clicked on the link to join. They have not been authorized either because they did not post in the "join" thread, they did not respond to PM's, or a combination of both.

If anyone knows any of those that are "pending" please contact them and checkl to see if they would like to join and if I may ask please speak on their behalf to sort of vouch for them. Thanks.

"Authorize"=Those that can authorize people into the Civ Group giving them access to these forums.

Wow! That's quite a list, considering I haven't seen anything from well over half these names since I've been here. I am not usually one for exclusionary tactics, but is there any way to pare this list down to the truly active? Perhaps we can PM the no-shows to see if they are still interested?

I think everyone who posted in the poll about the ending of the game may be considered active.

I have PM'ed everyone or at least those I think were active. The response was much greater than I have expected. Still there are a lot of people who have never posted a single opinion here.

For example GhengisFarb disappeared many months ago and I don't know anything about him.

you are not in the first list, but in the second.
also i think the second list is better for checking as it is ordered alphabetically.

In about 10 hours, I will post the 83 non-pending member roster to the UN. I am labeling myself as Ambassador to the UN, since I don't feel right calling myself the Team Captain just yet.

In the meantime, I will check this list against the 21 or so people who voted in the Endgame Poll, as well as those who are visibly active today. I feel that the remaining 60-odd members should receive a PM and, if they do not respond, should waive their access to this forum. Our roster is over double the size of the next largest team, and this measure should help pare it down a bit. Does this sound too harsh?

@bischop - my apologies for missing your name in the original roster. I just knew that if I were to miss adding a name, it would be someone who was still active

As a team we allow those that want to only "lurk" do so. If people want to be active on this forum by posting, then they sure enough can. If some only want to read about the game and see what's going on as a part of this team, then they can. There's no pressure to do either or.

We won't be posting and "active" list. It's not about excluding people, it's about drawing them back into the game. You never know whom may show up a year or so down the road.

Why post who is active? That would be the stupidest thing we could possibly do right now. That would give the other teams more knowledge than they asked for, all the other teams know the size of our active member base, and Trip would know who from the PTW ISDG is playing again.

End of story. Stupid or not, this is the second item listed in the UN rules. If you would like to break this rule, I will gladly step down and let you be the UN rep.

Where does it say we have to post active members? And it's not just me who thinks it's a bad idea, but also MZ as well, and he has quite a lot of experience with Foreign Affairs.

Tell me what list you want to submit then, although I think it's pretty bogus and underhanded. Do you think that Trip will not bring his A game just because he thinks MZ and E-T aren't here to kick around?

I may be a bit new to say this, but let's get over ourselves and play by the rules. Otherwise we risk a violation the very first time that MZ openly leads a diplomatic session (which I hope he does).

Nuke, he'd didn't post all the active players, he posted ALL the players. From a list of 83 no more than 1/4 or 1/3 is actually active and from that list no-one has any idea of knowing exactly who is active. So chill out, this is precisely what we want.

Don't worry, I don't mind being listed at all. Trip knows very well that out of the entire list only a few are actually active. Of course if he sees us posting at the UN and otherwise being visible he'll know we're active and likely in some sort of leadership position which is what we want to avoid.
