One guy I've driven to the Casino had a really bad stroke a while back. Young, maybe 35. Takes him forever to say anything. He took a few minutes to get out the words 'blood' 'explodes' and 'head', to explain his condition. Then, in odd words he explained that when he first woke up the only things he could say were 's***, f*** and mom', which I've thought about a bit. What is it about the brain that would keep these three words only? The guy plays blackjack, which I find kind of amazing. Half his body kind of lags behind and he walks with a cane.

Another guy I chatted with last night, maybe 67 years old, told me of a Carribian cruise he took last year that got hit by a really bad storm. There were 40 foot waves he said, and everyone was seasick and had a miserable time. Paid $7000 for himself and his wife. Also he's a smoker and just hates it. Would love to quit and has tried everything. He spoke on the subject with a passion. Like it was his failed life's work. Told me I was lucky to have beaten the things. He can't fly on a plane for more than 5 hours, and even then he needs to wear a nicotine patch. He has bad teeth, medicare takes care of everything but that I guess. I told him about medical tourism and the Phils and he really got all excited until I told him of the 12 hour flight. Then he dismissed it out of hand as impossible. I felt really bad for the guy, he doesn't have control of his own life.

My co-worker is a big kid. Tall, maybe 6'3". Round, weighs maybe 280. He is maybe 20 years old and is utterly convinced he knows everything. He gets instructing me on something he knows nothing about and I just say 'oh' and 'ahh' until he goes away. Thankfully he is very lazy and has no patience for his job so he wanders around BSing with people and spends very little time at his post, which is more work for me, but less stupid conversations.

Who have you met at work?

storms are the best part about being on the ocean. It's like an amusement ride.

In the navy, we even had a rolling chair in our lab office. Those are real fun in rough weather.

and that guy could always take a cruise to the Philappines . One that allows smoking on deck of course. Though he's sure to encounter a few storms on the way. actually, there might not be any boat service to the philappines. You'd think there would be. Back in 1900, it was the only way to get around. but there might not be enough business for it now days.

It's too bad in a way. The sea which Jagna is on is so protected by islands you just don't get big waves. But except for maybe Cebu, there's just not a whole lot of touristy spots for a cruise ship to put in at.

I wonder, though, if a small cruise ship could make a go of it. Daniel's hotel in Cebu is really nice, and the drinks are tremedous. That place we had dinner at in Tagbalarian was also verrrry posh. There's probably something nice on the northern shores of Mindanao. Maybe a ship with a glass bottom [to see the little fishies] and with scuba diving might turn a profit.

One of my co-workers is a retired person from the State and National Guard. Was a Real Property Appraiser but retired. He's one of those grumpy guys that drinks everyday until he passes out at the bar. He's friends with the boss so he gets preferential treatment as well as wants everything done his way even if it's as small as shredding paper a certain way.

At first I was nice to him until recently when I just decided I'm not going to take his BS anymore and don't talk to him unless its 5 words or less. He knows somethings up cause I talk to the attorney's and secretaries more than him...in fact, he's like the only guy I don't talk to at work. I've basically said 'F- it' cause I'm out of there.

What's funny is that he keeps on talking about if he stayed with his RPA job, he'd be making almost $50,000 dollars. Nowadays, that's not a lot of money for someone his age. My only solace at work is that I'm in the process of jumpstarting my career so I can ditch this meninal job and not have to deal with his a** anymore.
