If I modified the constitution, I think the only things I would change would make the second amendment CRYSTAL clear.... oh that and an amendment that bills before congress can only be on one topic-to be interpited by the courts.....

Allow states to have complete control of how their Representatives are elected. This would allow for Single Transferable Vote or Proportional Representation or whatever at the state level.

If I was to modify the US constitution in one way it would be to tack on a First Amendment A that reads:

"everything that follows is no longer applicable in any case whatsoever, please refer to Flip as to how to run the country"

Abolish the electoral college

On second though, abolish the Senate. That would get rid of the proportional-representation problem in the Electoral College and solve a host of other problems as well.

Clarify the second Ammendment so fanatics know regulating handguns is perfectly fine.

Abolish the EC and institute direct Election of presidents

Change the bit about Congress writing its own rules just a bit to lessen the impact of party control on the Congress (allow the election of leaderships to be non-partisan).

Mandate that house districts be drawn up by independent, non-partisan bodies to remove the problem of gerrymandering.

Gerrymandering I think has to be the #1 problem with our democracy today. It has essentialy made the House of Representatives unaccountable to the people by ensuring all elections aren't competitive.

Make it clear that "due process" has nothing to do with "substance." The doctrine of "substantive due process" has done more to erode the foundations of the constitution than anything else.
