Yes, I am back at the forums and busily compiling the usual information for your perusal.

Unfortnatly i seem to have lost the last spreadsheet with all my info in it so i am having to start a fresh ..

for this month i can only post overall posts per day based on joining date (yes i know some are incorrect)

From next month onwards i will be able to post lists of month by month posts per day tallies and Year To date PPD.

I hope this sprouts as much interest as it did last year.

criteria for this list was PPD greater than 5 and only the top 2000 posters (by post count total) were included in the spreadsheet.

It's amazing that so few people are able to keep their posts above 5 per day. But then again, it's equally amazing that some people are able to do with over 10 PPD. nd that ming and markg do not appear on the list. (I suppose it has something to do with [reg. 1970] ...)

*Edit: I'm certain that it will induce as much interest as last year. It's an intriguing topic and a tough undertaking.

Yes this first list is unrealistic as it trys to calcualte the PPD from join date. once i get next months figures the list will look lightly different.

Ming is at 1.73 based on 1 Jan 1970 join date

I must stop having my habitual time away from poly where i seem to stop posting for periods ranging from months upto almost a year once.

I have a PPD since registration on 2.33, but if I count for the last 3 months, it's 8.31. For the last 6 months, it's 6.83. Before that I was away for half a year, so I wouldn't count that. I guess I've been more active the last months than previous then...

Just use 26th July 1998 as the date, in lieu of anything better.

Actually, I took a second to calculate it, turns out this varies per poster. Your 6k posts with a 2.38 PPD indicates a time span of 6.9 years (i.e. as long as Apolyton has existed), while Ming's 22k posts with a 1.73 PPD indicates a time span of over 35 years (i.e. from 1970 onwards). Odd...

Using the same starting point as Dauphin, Ming should have a PPD of 8.92.

Not the inception: 2-15-99 was the first date the forum gave to registered users until we updated to vBboard whereby it went to unix time 1970 for all 2-15ers.

I'm not saying that. Indeed anyone registered before the first switchover on 15/2/99 has the 1970 reg date now (and prior to the last switchover they had pre-15/2/99), but thats a different issue.

I'm saying that the PPD calculation uses 26/7/98, the date Apolyton was 'created': i.e. Total posts divided by today's date less 26/7/98.

It doesn't use 15/2/99 in that calculation.

The ppd count in my profile seems to be based on July-August 1998. I joined in the first week of Jan '99, so it really isn't that far off.

Seems odd that the software is using 2 different base dates.

wont have time this weekend i dont think but will do a comparison next week.

i did find some information from July 2004. so will be able to track SOME peoples posting for the last year.

one interesting statisitic is how little posting i have done in that year .

not true, mings post per day on his profile is 1.73 which is his post count diviede by today - 1/1/1970
