	49er's Personal Foul Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

There's a story that broke out yesterday about a tape that the PR director for the football team, the San Francisco 49er's, made which to me is incredibly awful and insensentive when you consider the source and the stated objective. It includes gay and racial stereotypes along with many topless women.

What I can't understand is how people are defending this with the "boys will be boys" defense and "the locker room is a different place". It doesn't matter where you are or who you are, you need to have a modicum of respect for all people

The PR guy was fired... I don't think anyone is really defending it, more just scoffing at it.

It was supposed to be an inhouse thing just for the Niners to watch and laugh. Nothing (except the topless women) would be out of place in a Saturday Night Live skit. It was ONLY released because Tom Donahue, former coach of the Niners, was feeling vindictive towards his old team.

I really have no problems with the video. Who cares?

Get the firefox extention that allows you to open IE with a right click and it will be much easier.

A PR Director for a company that includes a city in it's title makes an innapropriate video that was meant for handling the media and was presented after a diversity training program, is no big deal?

So objectifying women, and showing a bunch of guys that, hey who cares if a woman is a reporter, she’s just a pair of mammaries, is ok? There was no educational value in this film, it was stupid and the guy who made it is a moron. The guy may have set himself up as the buffoonish jerk ala Peter Griffin or Homer Simpson, but there was no come-uppance or acknowledgement that the disrespect of diversity is simply wrong. Therefore this sends the exact opposite message the film was supposed to be used for.

I guess I'm a bad person for not finding this shocking.

I do support women's rights. But it's not like these strippers for forced to do this. They were paid very well do to that.

and no one pays attention to training films anyways. People aren't going to learn how to treat women at the age of 22. This is stuff they learn from their parents/guardians when growing up. If they haven't learned by now, they never will.

Guess I'll have to be bad right along with you. Don't see it winning any awards for writing or acting but I don't see why anyone would want to waste their time getting pissed about it. There are far worse things on TV than this. (unfortunately minus the boob shots)

Yes, it was supposed to be an inhouse flic. And if I was charged with making a film to show football players I would have gone with tits and humor also. What else is going to keep their attention longer than 10 seconds.

Yes it's not PC so that makes it a TERRIBLE OFFENSE.

It's in bad taste but not worth the outburst that it has caused.

wasn't part of it filmed in the mayor's office? That makes it more of an issue, IMHO, though not for pc issues..

There's nothing sexist about liking boobies. Well there is about liking the boobies to the exclusion of all else, but there is nothing sexist about liking the rest of a woman along with her great boobies.

That really shouldn't be an issue either. The mayor's office wasn't really involved except as a location and they had no clue what was going to be shot so there's plenty of room for deniability. I mean come on, if any professional sports team asked the mayor of their city if they could use their office as a location for an internal training film on media awareness, who would say no.

Just petty vengence outing the tape. I still believe it was in bad taste, but people are really making too much of it. It's like when college recruits wind up in strip clubs.
Yes, it probably shouldn't be done, but we're dealing with young studs who have the attention span of 3 year olds. Who was hurt, no one. Let's spend our time worrying about issues that concern life and death.
