Yes, another thread about a TV show from me.
This one, however, takes a song title from a soon to be has been for a show about has beens!

"Hit Me Baby One More Time" (8 p.m., WMAQ-Ch. 5) is a new American version of a hit Brit reality show, which pits former top 10 artists against each other in a weekly talent show. Every week, five wildly varied artists each perform one of their own hit songs, as well as one other well-known song. Audience voting determines the weekly winner.
The artists on Thursday's program include Arrested Development, CeCe Peniston, Loverboy, A Flock of Seagulls and former teen-pop queen Tiffany. A motley crew, indeed. One half expects Motley Crue to show up at some point, though so far, the band's not scheduled. But upcoming guests do include Wang Chung, the Knack, Irene Cara, Sophie B. Hawkins, Cameo, Tommy Tutone, Vanilla Ice and the Motels.
One reason to tune in to the premiere: to see if the singer from A Flock of Seagulls still has that really weird hairdo.
More intellectual -- and possibly more fun -- is "The 2004 National Geographic Bee," which is sort of like a reality quiz show, but with potentially useful knowledge involved. The annual contest, which uses a spelling-bee format to test young students' knowledge of geography, airs at 8 p.m. on WTTW-Ch. 11, with "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek as emcee and quizmaster. |

I con't think I will be desparate enough to watch this one though. I get my fill of musiacl stuff since my wife likes the "Idol" shows. canadian Idol just started here again-- You know they have 4 judges !! I figure its tied to the exchange rate so 3 Americans are the same as 4 Canadians.
Seriously, the Canadian version at least has the benefit of straying more often into what I'd call more alternative music and performers. Last year has a very bluesy runner-up and one of the other last people to go was a guy that wore makeup, had a big lip piercing and wore some of the most interesting costumes I ever saw. The conventional cute blond kid won but at least they had a run of very interesting performers
