Jewish proselytism competed with Christian proselytism in the 100 years or so between the traditional date of Jesus's birth and the Bar Kokhva revolt, after which Jewish proselytization was officially banned by the Roman empire. The rabbis eventually decided that active attempts at conversion were not desirable sometime during the writing of the Talmud. I cannot say with authority that Hindu missionaries did not exist, but certainly the existence of Buddhist missionaries would hint that they were not entirely unheard of in the subcontinent.
As for Muslim monasteries, the Assassins can be considered in some ways a monastic sect. And anyway, even if Islamic monasticism is not necessarily like Buddhist or Christian monasticism, similar ascetic sects did exist that are comparable.

I call that a Mosque.
By the way, is there an Islamic Cathedral? That'll piss off any Muslim...

On the question of Islamic temples vs cathedrals vs monasteries, one could consider a community mosque to be an Islamic temple, vs the great mosques in Mecca and Medina being Islamic cathedrals (though I would argue that these mosques are far more impressive that Notre Dame or Westminister). Islamic monasteries are a bit harder to qualify, but that may simply be because of my lack of familiarity with the Sufi branch of Islam, which has an ascetic meditative foundation. Sufis must have their own mosques which would be more monastic, although Islam not having a centralized clergy structure makes monasteries almost certainly non-existent as opposed to something like the Franciscan order in Catholicism which is a monastic sect.
