Everytime I turn on the TV, it seems like his smug face is on the news. I've got to hand it to him. He has a lot of presence and the best ability to get his message out I've seen. I think he's better than Clinton and Reagan in that respect. He also seems to get pretty much what he wants when he wants it. I guess that's the power of the darkside.

His strategy is to stay on the local news rather than the national news. He does this by traveling around the country and giving these short speeches. Many more people watch the local news and even if you hate the guy, you will notice when POTUS shows up in your home town in his 747.

He's got a good, disciplined political operation that knows what it's doing.

Not to mention Clinton would actually give interviews where the questions weren't all submited in advance. Bush doesn't do have regular press confrences because he comes off looking like an ass as he trips over his own words.

His handlers are smart though; they know the boss is a fuc-tard so they keep him away from reporters and instead take him to one scripted speech to another where Bush just mumbles the same silly lines to the guillible. Hell, even those audiences are fake and the people who occationally get to ask Bush questions all work for the white house.

It kills me when people who are not interested in a topic make a comment. If it's "Duh" to you why not just move along and let people with something to contribute to the discussion make their posts. Duh. Or is some form of attention seeking on your part?

Sounds like a question for one of his rigged town halls meeting:

Mr. President, how is it that you have so much presence and how do you manage to do such a great job at getting your message out? Do you think historians will say that you're as good as Reagan, or better?

OH and another reason you see his smug face on TV a lot is that he is the President of The United States and the media has an entire corp of reporters following him. They have to have something to fill up their 24 hours of news. So if you don't want to see him turn off the damn TV more or watch another station. That's what I did. The reason you notice it is that you hate him. If you liked the man in office then his politickin would bother you so much. Hell, you wouldn't even consider it politickin.

You do realize that the story was written in the 1970's long before there was a Bush to pattern, right?

The PT wasn't written in the 70's. Lucus finished the last script about two years ago.

Lucus used what he had for the first three. The PT is backstory. Sure he used some ideas from the early days but the story of the PT was not written in the 70s

I think the idea of a "permanent campaign" has been increasing in relevance for a long time... Bush or no Bush. The amount of travel the President does within the country has been more or less on the increase for many decades... aided by advances in communications technology no doubt.

I don't fault Bush for cynically using the media, and his colloquial/unsophisticated idiom, to his advantage. That's the game of the politician, and its to the fault of the people who are led on by it. A democratic politician is really only going to be as dumb, or intelligent, as the people want him/her to be.

This is 21st Century democracy, American style. If you don't like it, don't vote for it.

I think the most important thing the bushites are doing is message discipline. Anyone who actually knows anything tells only the canned party line, and they are constantly out there regurgitating it. They are ALWAYS 'on message' in a disciplined way.
