Colonel Googlie passed his hand over the access panel, and the door irised open, admitting young Karla.
She strutted into the Command center war room cocky as only young, successful Crypteia staff had the right to be, and paused before the Colonel, quietly handing him an infocrystal.
He looked around at the others, assembled at his request. The Lieutenant Colonels, Majors and Captains, who, although nominally divided into two loosely formed democratic parties, still formed the backbone of the governing Junta.
The Colonel inserted the crystal, then sank back in his chair to watch, as did the others.
Gasps arose. Colonel Maniac could clearly be seen in earnest discussions with two of the known Gaian lords – Chaos Theory and binTravkin. Papers changed hands, and they were joined by others, unknown to the Junta.
Colonel Googlie let it run its course, then stopped the display, and with a wave of his hands the lights raised in intensity.
He looked round the room.
“There you have it”, he said. “Missing from War council meetings for over a year, and now consorting with other faction leaders”
“Where were these taken?” inquired Lt Colonel Kassiopeia. “Some of the background looked familiar”
Googlie raised an interrogative eyebrow in Karla’s direction.
She snapped to attention and said: “A night club and bar in PK territory, sir. Known as Civgamers – a well-known hang out for many of the faction leaders. We’ve had the Colonel under surveillance for over a year now.”
“And what exactly is he doing there?” inquired Lt Colonel Snoddasmannen.
“Well, sir, that’s a bit unclear. Seems to be some sort of alternate universe discussions he’s involved in. Uses terms I’m not familiar with. Such as OCC, and Pirates, alphax text and rules.”
Colonel Googlie chuckled … “Ah, yes. I’ve been there too. Quite eclectic bunch hang out there. Alternate Reality junkies. But I can see that the Gaian lords have an ulterior motive – they’re trying to distract him from his Sparta duties.
“Well, there’s not much we can do until he returns of his own accord. His counsel is missed, but we’ll survive.
“Meeting adjourned.”

Well, the 2173 turn was one of the better planned ones, which I followed almost to the letter in execution.
I was somewhat tentative for 2174, for which you had made just a couple of early suggestions before the turn arrived.
I waited in 2175 for a thread to start, but eventually set out for discussion what might be decent build orders. I'm still very cautious re unit movements and worker allocations, but no suggestions were forthcoming so I did the best I could with limited input.
Micromanagement isn't my forte, as I've said before, but I've learned tons from following your suggestions
If you do disengage, our chances of winning will plummet - of that I'm certain. And I myself am just a few weeks away from serious downtime, as I head to the interior of British Columbia for two weeks on a golf holiday without my laptop, then shortly thereafter for five weeks in Scotland, again with no laptop.
What I'm getting to is that perhaps it makes more sense for you to resume turnplay duties rather than the opposite
G.
