	CtP2 being mean to a n00b... Tired of ads?

...to this game, anyway.

So here's the deal: My CtP2 disk arrived from Stan the other day and I've installed both it and the v1.1 patch. I've yet to get the game to work even once. I've reinstalled several times, tried a different compatibility mode (Win98), and checked my video drivers (up-to-date). My cdrom works fine, I've over a gig of memory, and I'm running WinXP.

( If anyone posts a link to any Apple or Linux-related material I'm going to slap them... )

What happens is this: Game starts, movie plays, screen loads. Screen flickers occassionally, I try messing with any of the setting options and I run the risk of lag. I mess with the music (even turning it off) and the game hangs. I try starting a new game or load a scenario and again the game hangs. At first I thought it was a problem of not having installed AoM properly (followed the instructions exactly near as I can tell) so I tried installing vanilla plus the patch. No difference.

Help me.

I wouldve said your video drivers but as theyre upto date its more hassle than its worth to go backwards. You could try lowering the hardware acceleration on your card, right-click desktop > properties > settings > advanced > troubleshoot, and lower one notch each time you try.

The lag thing sounds weird.

Nice one.

Annoying having to change it, but maybe it will fix in the future with a new driver or directx release.
