Recommend dv8ed some classical guitar Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Yet another dv8ed knows nothing© thread.

In this episode, dv8ed knows nothing about classical guitar (even if these are classical guitar!) beyond that he's been listening to internet radio and has heard a few things he's liked. Streamripper says that some of what I've liked has been:

Bach E Froberger - Pablo Lentini Riva Guitar - 01 - J S Bach Preludio Dalla Suite Bwv 1008
Madredeus - Os Moinhos
Miguel Llobet - El testamento de Amelia
Clamenco Guitarist John Erbentraut - With All My Heart-journey
Aly Khattab - Dos Aguas Aly Khattab

Which will, I'm sure, be fairly useless, so please feel free to recommend whatevery you think is good!

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

For classical guitar, try anything performed by Christopher Parkening.

Other acoustic guitar performers you might want to try:

Phil Keaggy: jazz/ celtic influence

Egberto Gismonti: jazz/ flamenco.

Andres Segovia and John Williams (not the film score composer, mind you) are considered the masters of classical guitar performance, so pick up anything by them and you're bound to be pleased.

My dream guitar is the Taylor 710ce which is made with Indian Rosewood for the back & sides with a Engelmann Spruce top, Tropical American Mahogany for the neck, and an Ebony fretboard. It's a classic Dreadnought which is designed to sound perfect; sure it doesn't have the fancy mother of pearl inlays but if sound quality is what you're after then it is hard to beat a Taylor Guitar.

As an added bonus the factory is here in San Diego so if/when I buy this guitar I can go to the factory, talk to the craftsmen, and film them as they build my guitar step by step. It's mostly a hand crafted process with most of the craftsmen building guitars for over 30 years. It's nice to know they still have makers like this left in the world.

Here are pictures of the 710ce:

Got spare money?

For Keaggy, only Beyond Nature and Majesty and Wonder would be considered classical guitar, although several other albums are exclusively instrumental.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I'm in the process of tracking down several of these suggestions...so far all I've gotten is Segovia, which is good...

Of those two, I only have Beyond Nature. There is one classical piece on there, but most of the rest is Folk/Celtic. He uses all kinds of strange tunings.

Saw him perform live several months ago. It was just him and and an acoustic guitar. He did only instrumentals. For many of these songs he played two or three rythyms, set them flying in a recorded loop and then soloed over what he had just created. He is amazing...

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

If you like classical guitar sounds, something tells me you might like Bela Fleck. Give 'em a try.
