Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Couple of comments that should make the 1425 post, but will have to be moved later to it as it's not here :

  • New city? I don't recall discussion of where to put the settler that's popping next time - i'd like to see it 889 from AbbA if that's agreeable. It'll be close enough to be low corruption, and it will certainly be a good city. I like it better than 8899 because it will be slightly lower corruption, and it gets the hill right away (and one extra hill). Though I'd be fine with either one; 8899 has more territory of its own, although that's mostly ocean. (Depends probably on how good the eastern territory we can't see is - if it's good enough, 889 leaves us room for a second good city up in the NE...)

  • When to advance. I am having a hard time remembering how much of this was MSN chat with Rhoth, so i wanted to write my thoughts here I think we should move when the immortal count goes down below 6 (5 or less). At that point we will have a good chance of surviving (on a hill) without losing any swordsmen. Then the stack heads 1 and then 2 and then conquers Invictus (or razes it). (I'd lean towards keeping Invictus, if we're at the point that we can feel safe that our allies and our stack can wipe out DR without any significant issues - it's a good city.)

  • When to stop building military. I'm tending to feel like we should stop now - build the rest of the units in the queue and start building buildings, possibly with one city exception (U2). Nirvana is a higher trade city (though higher corruption), and thus a marketplace/library would be helpful here. Or even a courthouse? And a temple of course, that should be the first build probably. Beach Boys i'm going to suggest some forest-chopped-buildings, either granary or library to start with (it needs more grassland anyway). And a harbor at some point. Metallica needs worker improvement, but shouldn't build them itself (either AbbA or Nirvana), but it should be a high priority for workers ... BC52s can produce workers as well, and probably should...

Any other thoughts?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

- I still like putting one of the new cities up there on the hill at 8877. The one that you're talking about would, at 889 have potentially better tiles than at 8899, but would overlap more with the 8877. I personally don't mind overlap so 889 would work for me. 8899 is also an option though if we don't want as much overlap.

- We were indeed talking about moving when they have less than 6 immortals. It's still risky to move since our defense is only 3 on that hill, but we'll see what happens.

- I agree that we should soon start building the buildings like markets. I agree about much of what snoop talked about. If we all of a sudden lose all our units in DR territory then we can always go back to building units, but we already have among the best militaries in the game right now.

- worker Rhoth: continues mining grassland
- worker McM: finished chopping fur forest
- worker Platy: continues chopping forest
- worker Wittlich: started mining BRG
- worker snoopy369: started roading BG.

- Stack of Doom still fortified on mountain without damage (healed)

- AbbA: settler in 1. (f10/20 +2; s25/30 +5)
1 vet archer
1 vet horseman
- U2: granary in 8. (f6/20 +2; s5/60 +7)
2 vet swordsmen
- Nirvana: granary in 12. (f15/20 +3; s26/60 +3)
1 vet swordsman
1 catapult
- Metallica: spearman in 5. (f0/20 +1; s7/20 +3)

- Beach Boys: catapult in 2. (f5/20 +2; s14/20 +3)
- Rhothsson Andy: catapult in 18. (f4/20 +2; s2/20 +1)

currency in - turn @ 0% science
+~33gpt with 17 gold in treasury @ 100% taxes

Diplomacy:
-

Remarks
- Total War Balance: lost 4 archers, 1 spearman & 1 warrior vs eliminated 3 horsemen and 1 warrior = 110 shields lost vs 100 shields.
- We are still AVERAGE towards DR and AVERAGE to BOH!
- With 5 swordsmen, 1 spearman, 3 catapults, an archer and a horsman I think we have a sufficient back-up force for the moment. With Feudalism at hand soon and our UU (the rider) soon after, I would like to focuss on growth now. It has been mentioned by Rhot and Snoop, but I think now is the time allready. Other nations have been invested a lot of resources in growth while we assembled an army. We will be competitive for the time being. When DR is out of the way, we even don't have to worry that much about expansion space. For the moment I have proposed to build some granaries, whereas to expand as rapidly as possible now, also keeping our happiness under control. I'd like to see a library in AbbA soon as well. If required we can switch back to military at any time.

Proposal for actions in 1400 BC
- get that deal done with the Babs currency+construction for free tech and monarchy (delegated that to BOH)
- sell construction around (contacted AM)

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

I'd like to see us finish the units we were building first - because I'm concerned DR may make a try at our cities now that it's desperate, and I'd like to see more than 5 swordsmen. If the Stack of 7 immortals 4 spearmen made its way to us, as it is, it could literally destroy our entire country in theory - or at least do some serious damage - as we'd do no more than destroy the spearmen before they got a chance to attack us (our stack would be a turn behind). I'd like to see 7-8 swordsmen be there to at least put a dent in the immortals before they get to attack us ...

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I'm looking at the save right now and there are several WF changes I'd like to make, most of them to slow down growth for the cities building granaries so that they finish the granaries before growing.
