	Sid Meier’s Civilization II Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Our local PC World is selling Sid Meier’s Civilization II for £4.99. Does anyone know which version this is? I think it can't be MGE and probably not FW. Therefore I suppose it's 2.42 or some precursor of this; but does anyone know?

It could be either an aged pre-2.42 version (I have never actually seen 2.42 offered retail - the retail version is normally 1.?? which needs the upgrade) or (more likely) "Ultimate Civilization 2" which is MGE compliant once upgraded.

Of course the above is a complete guess - but suported by several years of Civ shopping in the UK.

I'm pretty sure it's the original (2.42 or before). In fact, I'm absolutely positive.

The "prefix" Sid Meier's actually stopped appearing on the box after the first expansion. It's Sid Meier's Civilization II and Sid Meier's Civilization II Scenarios: Conflicts in Civilization, but it's Civilization II Fantastic Worlds etc.

The titles on the box are pretty clear too. If it doesn't say anything other than Civilization II, it's the original.
