Anyway, I'm not going to count Drogue's, because I'm nice and he's not paying attention, and I think the word guess invalidates the next one. You can sue me if you want. I don't care, it's my point i'm giving up (well, you should guess it IMO either way. Drogue should self-censor himself from guessing, because he really wasn't paying attention, but it's not mandatory).

Surely it doesn't matter what we discussed changing the rules to if we didn't? Following the rules to the letter requires counting Drogue's guess. Selective ignoring of the rules is therefore happening again.
Of course, given the circumstances, it is entirable reasonable to do so, and not in Snoopy's interest as well. It is also a moot point given the word was not guessed anyway. He was over-ruling the rules with common sense as a ruleset (outside of professional games) will not cover every eventuality. Not an unreasonable approach imo.
However, this leads to a situation where some people can selectively enforce rules on other players when they want to and not otherwise. Ergo, Snoopy should have to accept the guess. That's the rules right? All those players who back up their argument by saying yeah it's not perfectly fair but we must follow the rules should now agree.
But I suspect they wont.

Doc, my understanding was the rule slash rule interpretation WAS adopted slash forced in slash decided upon, but simply not entered into the OP for this thread. I didn't enter it into mine (Hangman XX) as I wasn't sure of the wording, and as a dissenter didn't want to word the rule myself ... and Joncha forgot slash didn't want to word the rule ether for Hangman 21.
I still stand by my opinion that the GM of any given forum game, and in Hangman the GM changes with the word, has the final say with rule interpretations; and as long as he/she is consistent with his/her interpretations, he/she may interpret rules however he/she pleases, within reason. As word setter, I have the right to determine what is a 'valid' guess and an 'invalid', within the written rules and my interpretation of said rules. If it is determined that I interpret the rules in a flagrantly self-serving and/or pugilistic way in regards to a particular player or group of players, then of course some penalty or modification should result; but that should affect only extreme cases or repeat offenders, and while I maintain a consistent, reasonable interpretation of the rules, I may do as I wish.
Such is consistent with other forum games. Look at GO; the transition from Smiley to Jamski as GM was a particularly drastic one for me, having never experienced a Ljube or Jamski-GMed GO game before; Smiley interpreted several rules in a drastically different way from Jamski's interpretation, yet both games went fine, although it would have been nice to have been warned ...
