Well, Felicinty has plains tiles that can be irigated and a surplus of forest that can be chopped.

Lake Ishtar needs connected to the trade network.

Plains of Ashur looks like it has one forest tile and also some hills that can be mined.

Kurria needs a path to irrigation.

Inanna's Throne has forest that needs chopped.

Potamia has an unimproved tobacco and appears to have an unimproved grassland shield.

Babylon has forest that needs choped.

Hookah has grassland that can be mined.

The Garden of Tammuz needs to have all grassland tiles improved.

Forrest chops Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I would like to see us saving the forrest chops for speeding up Markets. Plus, we also have Hills to get mined, which would help more in the long run, compaired to chops.

Chops will be prioritized and will be done, but I'm still getting a handle on everything, especially the workers. As it is, we have more on the way....

Looks like a plan

Just for clarification, what does "NC" mean? (As in Babylon - Building Lib (turn 3 of 4) - starting WF 1-2-8-12-16. NC.)

Ah, of course... Thanks...

Just one question:
We´re going to be in the red figures for quite some time... And with all those new builds scheduled it doesn´t look as if we´re planning to change that. Are you sure we can get a sufficient amount of gold through trades to sustain that "economy"?

You mean unit maintenance?

It isn't overwhelming (yet) but we definitely do need to work on getting our cities to City size (7+) to get more free maintenance.

Not just units. Three city improvements are underway, several (?) already in place. That surely costs some gold, too...

Put an end to popups!

Temples, assuming they're used, pay for themselves; the alternative is a MP unit that costs a gpt as well, or the lux slider, which costs at least a gpt. The shields are the only real expense if you need happiness from some source.

Markets and Libs pay for themselves so long as the city is big enough. You have 1 gpt maintenance, but then you have 3 or 4 extra commerce bonus from it, so you're ultimately gaining.

Granaries do cost a gpt, but they help pump up our population. All those workers we're producing can also be used to increase city pop, in addition to roading and thereby creating more commerce.

Barracks are really the only city improvement that's ultimately a drag on the economy.

Not if it produces units that keep you alive....

As for our Unit Costs, well, we very short of Mil Units, even for proper Garrisons (and under Monarcy, we can have 3 per city). They would pay for themselves as hey would allow higher pops and thereby more production & trade (after Corruption that is).

I would hate to think of having to defend our lands or to even take on the End of Age Barb Uprising withthe state of our Militry at present.

Yes, we´re #1 in most key areas again!

Please don´t take my comments as criticism, I just wanted to know if you think we can maintain all this negative gpt. Or more precisely, I´d like to know *how* we can maintain it... I´m still learning in single player, so I am eager for advise...

I wasn't taking them as criticism, and while that word has taken on a bad connotation, it's good to rethink things.

As for how to maintain it: the key is to build up cities, both literally and figuratively. To reduce unit maintenance, we need to build more cities and increase the population of our core cities to 7+. To pay for our improvements, we need to couple the core population increase with Markets and Libraries to produce more commerce.

Running a deficit in early game is normal, just as long as you don't actually run out of gold. Basically, your economy is growing and also with science tweaks the last few turns of any tech, you get the cash to run the deficit again.

Market Places will also pay for themselves in terms of happiness when you have 3+ luxaries. Without the happiness effects, the city would without the Market Place need to have 2+ commerce going to taxes.

Libaries will pay for themselves when the city would without the libary have 2+ commerce going to science.
