True, but fortunately / unfortunately the wife's health insurnace is gonna kick in soon, which means about $300 a month less than we had before.

I now have to take a job, any job. So Monday morning, bright and early, it's down to Starbucks and then over to Manpower for me.

I can't believe I was so friggan' careless.

It's a variable cost. The first ten minutes of each day is $.25 a minute. After that for the rest of the day, it's $.10 a minute.

If I used up all the minutes in one day I have left it would be $2.50 for the first ten minutes (and I have $5.25 now) ten cents a minute for the rest of the $2.75, so about 37 minutes total, if I use them all in one day.

Considering how much I use the phone, it's a lot cheaper than $40 a month.

Well, I got three minutes left on the computer here at the library, so I think I'm gonna head home, play some Civ. Supposed to go to the beach today with Bunnygrrl's cousins.

Oh, and the dude sitting next to me is playing Civ III. The PCs on this floor have CD-RWs, so he runs the game off the cd and saves his game when he has to move.

I´ve been on two interviews for jobs at the National Board of Forestry. The first job I didn´t get ´cause they thought I wasn´t interested enough. The second one I´ll hear from next week. The guy doing the interviews seemed a nice enough guy, but he had very strange questions about my drug/alcohol use, my eating habits and my view on immigrants...

How much money would you make on Starbucks?

Che, go to usajobs.com and see if you can't pick up a government job. The government has low expectations for job performance, pay is decent, and you can't get fired though there is a lot of mindless BS you'll have to put up with.

No, one dude put several offers out, GT, and then decided I was too expensive, even if I was taking $20K under my last job. The Discovery Channel one just seems to have fallen off the face of the planet.

However, I just discovered I may be eligible for Unemployment. It's been a year since I last filed, and they use the last 18 months of your work history for determining your eligibility, and that includes the first six months of last year, when I was working and making good money. So we'll see.

I thought about this a couple of weeks ago, but I was in Chicago and didn't have the necessary info, then forgot about as I got back home and got all distracted with tropical storms and the OAS and crap.

I was wondering what your expertise was Che'.

I have had about 50% success rate in last 5 years hiring someone whom lost their job through attrition and certainly no fault of their own with a larger salary package than I could offer.

I say success because few people can successfully traverse a negative 40% + income change.

I went from $ 75,000 in mid 80's to $ 19000 and it hurt financially as well as my emotional make up that I had to get into credit problems.

Took a long time to dig and scratch my way out.

I was wondering because in some posting between us you didnt seem like a bum or a loser, not that I am judging, just some folks here well, seem to want to milk it too much

Kidicious-you are correct it is very counter productive for the employer

some folks apply so they can make bigger bucks or so they think

some folks apply expecting to get turned down so they can collect unemployment checks

some even apply so they can get injured,"feel discriminated against" or some other reason to sue

you have to be a freaking sociologist and psychiatrist all in one
