I've been trying to avoid getting all caught up in it yet... there are still weeks until it comes out, and I don't want to be scouring Mugglenet for clues all night until the days before it comes out .

Though I think I'll be there at midnight to buy the book .

I don't think Dumbledore will die until the middle of the seventh book.

I'm thinking Neville was set up for a big fall after the last book, and that both Ron's parents (for obvious reasons) and Hermione's parents (for being Muggles) are in danger.

On the plus side, I think Neville will take LeStrange with him, scrappy little bugger.

I hated how they made the ending of the 2nd movie (CoS) to be all about how everyone loved Hagrid... ugh.

I hadn't heard about the newstory. I did hear that the bookmakers stopped taking bets following a sudden and unexplained increase in betting on Dumbledore.

If not for the leaks, I would have voted for Arthur Weasley. He's such a nice guy and his large family and Harry depend so heavily upon him, I figure you have to rub him out, if only for the dramatic impact.

I figured Doubledore would not die until Book 7. Dramatically, Double has to be out of the picture, so that Harry can learn to stand on his own two feet.

Then we can always hope the Dobby the House Elf and Jar Jar Binks entered into a suicide pact.

Look, if you read the article, this STILL is the realm of rumor, because there's no substantiation of what was in those pages, nor confirmation that the pages being stolen is even true, nor any confirmation that the company mentioned is even an actual publisher of HP6.

all that happens here is yapping. You can insult someone, you can hit their self esteem, but theres not much you can actually do that will HARM them. Spoiling a cultural product is one of the few things you can do. In Other games people spoiler games that have been out for years, out of courtesy to new players. Heres something that isnt even out yet .......

I dont think you get it. Assuming you just made a mistake - making a joke about it, was acting like a jerk. The appropriate thing to do would have been to apologize immediately. Its still the appropriate thing to do.

Apologize for WHAT? Posting an unsubstantiated rumor about someone dying in a thread speculating about who dies?

You can scour the net and find HUNDREDS of similar rumors for all sorts of things happening in HP6, with pretty much every character except Harry (and sometimes even him!) being predicted to die. Hell, you can find sites dedicated solely to just keeping track of all the rumors about rumors.

You're acting like a big sulking baby, getting riled up over something that may not even be true. And even if it is true, is your having heard it that bad? Would it ruin the book for you? I mean, if they are such wonderful stories, would knowing that a specific character is going to eat it really spoil the pleasure of reading it for you?

I read Les Miserables knowing what the ending was going to be all along. Didn't ruin it for me...

It will spoil some of it for me. In case you didnt realize these books are mysteries. Suspense is a big element.
and speculating about what will happen is one of the things that my daughter likes to do with me. I can tell you, if i let this out to her she would kill me. So now if she starts to talk about it, im going to have to pretend i havent heard. Like I said, thanks a lot. Jerk.

That you enjoy speculating with your daughter is great, but why should we be barred from speculating ourselves, just for your sake? And since it's just a rumor, this IS just speculation.

Step back, take a deep breath and you might just realize that this rumor, being unsubstantiated as it is, doesn't really change what is currently known about the plot of HP6. It's just one of 1000s. If you want, I'll gladly post links to all the "Character X dies" rumors I can find to make you feel better.

On second thought, no, I won't. This has already exhausted my interest in the subject.
