Who besides Colon Powell and Condi Rice would make a good first black president? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I figure Colon Powells chance is slipping away with his age, but Condi would be a good choice for the next election. Who else is there?

You got the wrong guy. I haven't been a lefty for 20 years.

My concerns would be integrity and competence. Powel fails on the first count and Rice fails on the second.

i am favorably impressed by Condi as Sec of State since taking that office, though her rep as NSA was not favorable. However thats academic - AFAIK except Herbert Hoover, and maybe John Q Adams, we've never elected a prez who held only cabinet office. In the early Republic it was common to move from Sec of State to Prez but they generally held elective office first - Jefferson was Gov of Virginia, then VP, James Madison was an influential member of the House, etc.

Id say Barack Obama has the best shot, but not for some time.
