Map Maker=Game admin??? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Emperor is over stepping his boundries as the map maker, one that we did not even ask him to do. The game's admin asked him to do it. The site for the UN, I believe, is either in part or wholly owned by Emperor so he feels it's his right to go around and make rulings and lock threads. The admins are both quite busy for the moment in RL and so Emperor hastaken it upon himself to step in and help. Well, his behavior in just not acceptable to me. What, if anything, should we do about this?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. I submitteda second, less wordy proposal, concerning "shared victories" and this was his response:

quote:

The decision to that exact same question has already been made in this thread, BigFree. Please, do not complicate matters by trying to force re-votes upon the teams. They have already made their decisions, and re-polling is not necessary, nor is it in the spirit of fairness. Just because Apolyton is not satisfied with the outcome of the poll does not give them the right to appeal for another vote on exactly the same issue, in the meager hope that teams will change their minds (which it is almost 100% certain that they will not).

Please just accept the majority decision, and get on with life.

Topic locked.

Nice to have him lock it before we even get a chance to explain our case.

I suppose he can read the other team's minds and see that they voted it down due to wanting shared victories?

I would like to make a complaint. In Apolytons last thread posted here, BigFree posted a rule a proposed rule amendment. Emperor took it upon himself to close the thread, thus stopping any debate from among the administration of the C3C ISDG, and the partaking teams about the proposed amendment.

Emperor may have his personal view that the said amendment has already be voted upon, however Emperor has failed to notice the difference between the original proposal, which included an out of game UN vote, and the new, compromise, which does not include this out of game UN vote. Emperors personal view, however, should not be a deciding factor in any proposed amendments, as he is not part of the administration of the C3C ISDG, he is only the mapmaker, and has not been accepted by the teams playing in the ISDG finals to work in this role.

Is this acceptable to post at the UN? It does need an ending, however, but that is about it, apart from some editing...

Go for it. I never really cared for him. Just a few grammarical corrections, otherwise, good.

I've reworded the end a wee-bit and added a few pesky apostrophes. Do we want this complaint from our UN rep, or the entire team?

Done editing. We do need an ending though.

Just finish with something like...

As for the amendment itself, we would like to bring this amendment forth as the issue of shared victory is very important to our team, and we aren't sure why the previous amendment failed - do the majority actually want shared victory to be possible in this game, or did they simply not care for the extra rules on how to determine a winner?

Also, please stress that the game start date will not be postponed due to the need for other teams to vote on this new amendment. They can vote after the game has already started.

Well, I had already replied to what he did before I posted this thread. This was what I posted:

quote:

Emperor, while I understand this may be your site, going around and locking topics for what only you think is good reason is not exactly a fair and reasonable way to run the UN for a game like this.

Now, to explain why this amendment proposal is different from the one you say is the "exact" same issue. This second amendment is less wordy; it gets right to the point. For example, it leaves out "stalemate conditon" as a prerequisite for an out of game vote for a winner. This new proposal is just that, new! It may have a connection to the other proposal but in it self it is new and not the same as the last.

Again, ACS feels strongly about this and regardless of your own personal feelings, we feel it is our right to have eahc and every team vote on this issue. We hae memebrs who have stated that they will not particiapte in the game if such a rule was not instituted. I'm not saying that ACS won't participate but that some of it's members will not. I would not like to see that happen.

Also, Emperor, I believe it is not even your place to make any sort of game rulings here! It is the admins job only! You make the map, period, end of story. Locking threads in this forum should not be in your capacity unless they violate site rules.

And another thing, nowhere doe sit say that a team cannot submit multiple amendment proposals, even it it were the same exact proposal, though this one clearly is not the "same exact" proposal.

I'm trying not to be rude here Emperor, but your continued actions of not only acting as if you are the games admin but then acting as if you have complete control of the game. The individual teams have the control. The admins act at our combined behest. The admins have voluntered to do this job, as you have, but we have not asked you to act as an admin.

Emperor is not determing start locations anyway. He's simply placing six starts, and the admins decide who goes where.

The only real affect would have been that the game would have progressed a tiny bit slower without the few dozen extra shields on the map.

Never making a map before this is reason to believe. I think I read somewhere on Evo Games that this is either his first or close to his first map. I know how my first map for general consumption turned out so if it's anything close to that it won't be great. But then again he could surprise us I suppose.

No. Only MRex has access right now. Elucidus would have access right now but he has yet to join the Civ group. Emperor will never be granted access here because he is not an admin.

He is supposed to have actually created quite a few maps; just none for an ISDG. My confidence lies in that MRex and Elucidus will be inspecting the map before hand.

If I saw this thread earlier, I would've responded earlier. Unfortunately my Internet access is extremely limited at the moment.

I should clear up a few things about the emperor. First of all, he does not own Evolution Games. He is not a site admin, though he does moderate a couple of forums. He is not an ISDG admin, although he is trying to keep some order while Elucidus and I are tied up with real life. He is an accomplished map maker, having several dozen maps to his credit.

Please bear with us as this game gets going. I wish I had the time to oversee things better and get the game started by July 1, but it wasn't to be. Elucidus will be starting the game (most likely) today, and we'll be able to put all this behind us.

As for your amendment, an official vote on it will be taken. However, that is on the back burner while we focus on the more important objective of getting the game moving.

I'll attempt to check this thread again sometime in the next week. If you have any further questions, you can post them here.
