Yep, only a week to go, to planned leave to Officer's Training School.
It consists of 3 phases:
1. Basic Training - meant to improve your physical and weapon skills to the minimum level required in officer's school. Exists for all soldiers who underwent only the most basic training (me).
2. Officer's School - meant to teach you how to command, navigate, inspire, tactically plan and what not. Has 2 routes - combatants and support roles. Obviously I go to the support roles route.
3. Professional School - meant to deepen your professional skill as an officer in your relevant profession. Specialized for each corps.
All in all, for me it will include 7-8 months (combatant troops take much longer) of rigorous training and studying. This as well as being used for routine missions in the disengagement operation this august.
So my question is for poly's seasoned veterans, is again for tips and suggestions, both for the course itself, and what things to get (sunscreen and anti-insect spray are a must!)

Heah Sirotnikov,
when I was in the US military I was a technician specialized in repairing both radars, and then later crypto equipment. However for some reason I also ended up in my first assignment (which was supposed to be just repairing radars) being the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of my Battery's Recon/ Observation Unit, meaning I was going to be potentially thrust directly into unknown/ openly hostile territory, and required to direct troops accordingly. After reassignment to crypto repair why thru my records my new unit also learned of my experience in directing troops at my previous unit, and so I became the NCOIC of my unit's Quick Reaction Team in South Korea, which while I was there one post was firebombed once by radical students. Many false alarms, many times thrust out into the unknown during that tour.....
That was 15 years ago....
I guess what I am trying to say is that in today's military environment why, at least from my observation, simply saying that your going the support route doesn't necessarily mean that you won't be exposed to that much less danger than if you'd gone for the Combat mode.
