Cuba is being swiped by it right now, and it will pass over soon. Most likely, it will just be a tropical storm here in Ft. Lauderdale, but after last year, I'm not too keen on those, either. Of course, the damn things can always turn, so we could take an even bigger brunt.

Also, Bunnygrrl may have to go to work while it's storming.

I see the US's Atmospheric Disturbance Generator for Attacking Commies is (ADGAC) up and running at full strength. Expect some strong typhoons headed toward mainland China soon, conveniently destroying many of CNOOC's holdings, preventing their takeover of Unocal.

(Seriously, it looks like Jamaica just got pounded, and Cuba's about to. Hopefully nothing too bad happens...)

On a more positive note, it looks like the remnants will head up this way and slow down, and we definitely need some rain around here (but not too much). And I'll be conveniently out of town when it falls.

I dunno know if flordia will not be affected I remember last year the one that was supposed to hit new orelans that hit birmignham ala sent a lot of storms towards sa tx it rained non stop for 2 weeks.

Dude, it's just a three hour drive (213 miles). I haven't the slightest idea what you're doing (or even if you'll have a car), but if your weekends are free (or even just your Saturdays/Sundays), there's no reason why you can't leave after work, party until late, crash at his place, and drive back late the next afternoon, arriving at a decent time (say 8:00pm.)

Just heard in the radio that at least eight are dead in Haiti due to this hurricane and that cuba are diggin in before they are hit.

Because as we all know whom have been through a multitude of Hurricanes only those in the path have to worry..

Tell it to the folks in Punta Gorda.

Remember Jeanne, from last year, doing all those loop de loops and then just stopping in the middle of the ocean before heading back to Florida. The projected path is meaningless until it actually makes landfall. Even hours before landfall, the thing can make a significant deviation in the projected path, ala Charlie.

monolith94, I have no car yet, so I'd have to take a bus to get to Sarasota, which would cost $56, so I'm not inclined to do it. Sorry man.

Interesting fun fact, no one in the U.S. has been killed by a tornado since March this year, this first time that's happened. It's a very slow year for tornadic activity.
