Well, we had a chance to nail the two mafias. You rah, you became suspicious when you voted first in the last round for manifestly innocent DrSpike. Sparrow followed which painted him black. So at that moment it was obvious.

Unfortunately Doc was lazy as usual so didn't even cast his vote.

I suspected sparrow and normally i would try to knock him off. But I knew he was heading out of town so I tried to speed it up by voting first that round, knowing if we went to the final round, sparrow would have to vote fast or miss his chance..... and the second vote in the final round was my goal. And it's always fun to eliminate Spike and you and get away with it. THat doesn't happen often for me.

Yes, for a change, Ljube was right on the money in this one when it came to figuring out the Mafia. Unfortunately for him, nothing changed in how the others took no heed of his advice.

Sparrowhawk sent me this during round nine...

quote:
Mafia Alliance

Hello EPW,

Now sure "Alliances" in Mafia work like they do in other Forum Games, but in the interests of staying alive as long as possible, would you be interested in voting as a block to help ensure that we keep each other alive?

In this way we could help to make sure who we vote for is eliminated and also ensure that we don't vote for each other (with only 7 players left it seems that 2 votes will give a much higher chance of survival).

Might better both of our chances.

I am only offering this to you as it seems we have been voting in similar patterns and Kassiopeia says we are working together in his story, so it only seems natural that we should work together in the game as well.

No need to PM me back, your vote will be answer enough

Thanks,
Sparrowhawk

Round 4

In another round of very close and heated voting, Spaced Cowboy was finally doomed (by the toss of a coin, no less) to end up on the other side of the wire.

That morning, preparations were supposed to continue, but something that was becoming very typical for the camp occurred. The suicidal Gamecube64, who had previously tried to vote himself to death, perhaps to protest the whole method of judgement, was found lying on the courtyard. He had been decapitated with a shovel, so DrSpike quickly ruled out suicide as a cause of death.

The escape plan was thrown together that day, and it was designed to be a very quick and not that great an escape, since the rate of attrition was getting worse than when flying on bombing runs. The number of tunnels was cut from the originally planned three (called Dick, Tom, and Harry) to just one, Dick. When everyone realised all the bad jokes this would encourage, they opted for Harry instead.

Their Planner was now dead, though. Not breaking their stride, the escapees selected Reismark to the role, with gjramsey being his secondary. You know, just in case.

Lord Nuclear, in turn, was recruited by snoopy to help him dig the tunnel. They'd need all the able-bodied men they could.

With all the corpses turning up, another form of digging had to be carried out. This helped out with the escape in a morbid way, though, since all that grave-digging allowed the prisoners to have digging tools inside the camp without arousing suspicion. They could also shift around larger amounts of ground, even in the open. The task of digging graves fell on EPW.

Sparrowhawk surprised everyone in a meeting by revealing his true identity as a member of the French resistance. He declared that he had connections inside Germany itself that would assist in the escape. Meanwhile, though, he'd concern himself with setting up an orchard on the courtyard. An orchard and the gravesite would both allow for a lot of dirt-carrying and shovel action to go under the radar.

When I read that I didn't expect to last another round but tried to deflect it by pointing out that there were no clues yet .

Funny part is I was sure EPW was the second mafia, and actually moved Mrs. Tuberski up on my kill list because of it, thinking to either keep him alive or make him look even more suspicious (as she pointed out) so when Ljube died (he was also next on my kill list ) I thought Kassiopeia had made a mistake in the method of death (the barbed wire) as I thought it was my kill

My only reason for voting for Zopperoni in the last round was that I was watching who was online and all three of us where online (rah, Zopperoni and I), Zopperoni went offline so I voted for him, but by the time I voted, Rah was offline too . I nearly fell out of my chair

I considered it strategy to keep Rah and DrSpike around late, as I think both of them are likely to join Docpiles without looking for clues, so as long as that Docpile wasn't me, they were good people to keep around.

I would like to have put Theben at the top of my list (and incidently Rah killed you, not me ), but that would have made me suspicious, and also I would have killed Ljube earlier as I thought he would see the clues. Thankfully both of them didn't start accusing me until they were dead

I try not to look at clues when I'm a mafia.
Ever since the game LJUBE GMed where I was the mafia.
Some of the clues were SO BLATANT I would cringe when I read them figuring the jig was up. But somehow when they're really blatant, everyone seems to overlook them thinking it must be more complicated.
This was my first game as a mafia where I didn't actively try to eliminate the second mafia.

It wouldn't have been a problem, Kassiopeia asked for complete kill lists at the start, so you could have signed up and forgotten it, it shouldn't have mattered (though early I had hoped to go after absentee voters as they slowed the game down

Just out of curiousity, did you consider voting first in this round or had you even seen that there were only 3 of us left? (I wanted to vote second like Rah, but as he points out, I couldn't afford to wait). If you had voted first however, I wonder what would have happened??

That's an interesting approach rah. Alliance with another mafia. Hope you can trust the guy to stay true.

And Sparrow, though you were very suspicious all the time, I didn't want to vote for you as there was never any hope of having a docpile. The first opportunity was when you followed rah's lead and voted for DrSpike.

You see, as much as I wish to catch the mafia, I also wish to stay alive.

I knew it would be suspious to vote so quickly after rah, but I was watching the thread carefully both needing to speed the game up and to get a vote in before a pile could start against me. With only 5 of us left I was quick to join with Rah in voting off DrSpike, as we only needed one more to get down to 3, it was a no brainer for me, even though I would have liked to wait until later in the day to keep it from being so obvious, I didn't mind being suspicious at that point .

Tired of ads?

If I understand correctly, in the last round both Mafias were alive? Then, the game was over a long time ago. At least after how Mafia always has been played where I learned it.

It's like this: The last round before this, there were 5 persons left, two of which were the Mafia. Now, as none of them were killed, when the night came, there were 4 persons left, soon to be three, of which two were Mafia if the Mafia that wasa to kill killed "right". At that point, the Mafia had won. As I see it, this is a fight between the Mafia(even though they are not aware of each other) and the villagers. When one of the camps are beyond resque, the game is won by the other.

Not really, the game wasn't over until the mafia kill in the round of four was made, Since if one of the mafia was the one killed the villagers could still win. (i.e if I had killed sparrow instead of ljube) So the game was over only one turn early, and then it was just left to be determined if one or both mafia would win.

???

Wasn't you and Sparrow the Mafia? Then the game was won by you by round 11. If f.ex. Sparrow was taken, you (ie the Mafia) would win. If you was taken, Sparrow (ie the Mafia) would win. As it went, Zopperoni was taken, and you and Sparrow (ie the Mafia) won.

EDIT: BTW, I am in for a new round.

Actually quite a few times. (whenever the villagers get lucky and pick both mafias off early before the inevitable kill the mod vote.) Which makes it even more surprising when I can win as the mafia. But at least then I can eliminate a few of the people that would start the docpile against me.
