I like the Disneyland Wonder idea, for a happiness modifier. If you build the thing, then the other people building it can still build it and gain happiness, but the first builder gets some money from the other civs that build it. You have to pay the parent corp...

The Hollywood wonder makes much more sense.

Theme parks can be city improvements, but they're not nearly as efficient for happiness as a television network.

Well, maybe some civs don't like this wonder... And you'll produce unhappiness instead. (even riots! )

And your "parent corp" will have losses, and that produces unhappiness too...

Just kidding.
But I like the idea of a wonder representing the Showbiz. Not a Hollywood Great Wonder, but a small one. (see Bollywood , for instance).

I propose the Red Light District improvement, or House of Burlesque.

I vote that it give happiness only to every city EXCEPT the one in which is was built. I lived near Disneyland growing up, and between every relative on Earth visit us and demanding we go there and the huge flow of people from around the world who simply showed up, puked on a few rides, and broke all traffic laws, it was all I could do not to go postal everytime I saw Mikey Mouse.

Yeah, it's a small world alright...because the whole friggen world was coming to Anaheim!

And we could have another kind of "specialist" - one which increase both happiness (like an entertainer) and revenue (like a tax collector), but at the cost of increased disease. Living near Tampa, Florida I suggest the city improvement which allows this specialist be called the "Gentlemen's Club" (available with the tech "legalized prostitution"). More primitive versions of this improvement would be the "House of Ill Repute" (available from the very beginning - think about it) which increases happiness and disease; and the "Brothel" (only available in towns with population of 4 or more) with even more happiness, slightly less disease, some tax revenue, and a decrease in rate of population growth. The corresponding small wonders would be called "Red Light District" which doubles the effect of 'pleasure' improvements, and "Mons Venus" which puts a GC in every city with a population of 8 or more.

If it makes you feel better, when I went to Disneyland, I hated it. I also supported the local economy by eating only in local restaurants -- not inside the park -- and by staying in a non-Disney sanctioned motel. I also obeyed traffic laws. There is a rather absurd one, iirc, about pedestrians and right turns on red.

I should have gone to an Angels game.

Fair enough. For every turn that DerSchwarzfalke visits Disneyland in your city, it cancels one unhappy face.

I had a similar though once, that ALL wonders should be buildible for ALL civs the way that "small" wonders are. BUT the first bilder gets the full effect of the wonder the followers get a greatly reduced effect but the Wonder is cheaper to build. Think of it as building the BIG wonder opens up a small wonder for everyone else. The Hypothetical Disney wonder would go something like this.

Disney World : +5 Happyness this City, + 1 Happyness in all your cities , +10 gold for every DisneyLand in existence.

Disney Land: : +2 Happyness

All the BIG/LITTLE wonders have differnt but similar names, for example. "The Great Library" vs "National Library" this conveys the destinct lack of greatness in the knockoff imitations produced by other Civs.
