My girlfriend will go to Israel in a trip soon.
Can you give me (her) some usefull information (links) and hints?
It is an organized trip but she may stay a few more days and she might need to use the public transport. I don't want her to get lost there.

Since she is on an organized trip, I assume she already saw all the hot spots ( Jerusalem, Nazareth)
My recommendations:
-go see Haifa, and Bahai gardens.
-remember: NO FRICKING PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM FRIDAY NOON TO SATURDAY EVENING None. Nada. Zilch - might as well spend it walking around the city she's staying in, (hopefully somewhere near the sea).
-If she gets a chance to hang around Tel Aviv in weekdays, this can be fun.
-Dead Sea hotels, Eilat, and Tiberias offer wonderful spas. Personally I recommend the dead sea for spas. could be pricey, though.
oh, yeah, and I also got this telephone number, which is the telephone number of the ministry of tourism help line:
02- 6271422 ( with 02 being the Jerusalem area code, so if she's staying there, don't use it) They speak english there, I think.
http://www.israrail.org.il/english/index.html is the railways site, but schedules are in hebrew only.
http://www.egged.co.il/Eng/ that's the site of Israel's largest bus operator ( doesn't operate the busses in Tel Aviv, though )

Thanks Az.
Very helpful. Especially the part about no public transport. In Romania the public transport is never shut down completly. Fewer buses, but still...
