THis is just an example from the area I am from. I live in student apartment area, the largest in Finland. There are now people, who want to separate the electric bill from rent, since now the rent includes rent, water, internet (and actual rent). However, few activist hippies are really concerned, that this will encourage wreckless usage of electricity. Because it doesn't cost any extra no matter how you use it, it's paid in rent already.

So they suggest a) raise the rent or b) separate the electricity into it's own bill. I want to ask WTF HAVE THEY BEEN SMOKING?!

Only further proves, that leftist hippies are from rich families who cry because they are *****es. They need to get a good beating to understand the real world. They go crying behind peoples backs that they want to pay more rent?!?!? OK, PAY MORE RENT, but don't make me pay more rent because I can hardly afford this one. I will kill these SOBs one day unless I get out soon enough. I swear this ain't over until someone bleeds. You have to be rich or connected to think like that.

Also it's the whole way of thinking. 'People can't use electricity responsibly, so we must raise the pay/taxes/etc so that EVERYONE pays for it extra, because they won't learn'. It's against individual freedom, like all leftie bastards. Let's tax everything so hard, that if those few stupid people who use them wrong, well it'll be covered since EVERYONE pays extra. THus no one can afford ****, because you have to pay tax this tax that and little bit of tax xyz.

Of course the suggestion of lowering the tax on cars is also wrong, because check this, it only helps 'rich people' who can now buy cars cheaper and poor people can't afford them still. WTF IS THAT LOGIC?!?!?!?

OK! Let's make it clear. IF you ain't working, you don't deserve new cars. PERIOD. IF you don't go to school, which is 'free' in here, end up in shitty job, YOU DON'T DESERVE BETTER. If you are stupid and can't acquire skills you can sell to employers, YOU DON'T GET MUCH. PERIOD. It's not injustice, it's what happens. In here, stupid people keep everyone down. Because it's unfair if someone gets ahead.

Lefties should die in here. IN other countries they might be OK, in here some of them are OK, but these activist are always the ones who should die right now. As for a blog I recommend to everyone .. www.finlandforthought.net .. the dude has exactly same opinions about stuff that I do.. he's an american working here in Finland. He has things to say. I agree with him 100%. He's an outsider looking in, and seeing the crap this leftist domination is doing in here.

But I have to give them credit for one thing. They are politically active, while others are not, and that's why nothing will ever change.

You make some valid points. Be responsible and acountable, but only for what you consume. I.E. electricity.
I'll bet you a hundred dollars you can walk outside and see windows thrown open, utilities running on full.

right and just because some ass is wasting electricity doesn't mean IMO that I have to pay extra just because of that. That's just stupid if you ask me. But.. I'm still executing my plans so.. maybe in 2 years I'll be there. At least I hope so. We'll have to see.. I can't take it much longer in here though

We've got a pretty funny system here; the rent is inclusive of heating, ventilation, water, and electricity, thus providing no incentive to minimize usage. But, you can't actually regulate the heating and ventilation yourself - it always strives to hold the 20 C at day and 18 C at night the communal housing company thinks is good for you. The funny thing is I'd keep lower temperatures in winter if given the choice ...

This is why I think big companies should be charged the same rates as consumers. In Illinois, at least, ComEd has deals with the big companies that they pay a set rate to use as much juice as they want, which results in all the lights and computers in the offices being left on during the 16 hours of the day they aren't being used.

che, except it isn't free. It's paid with the rent. And these are student apartments. THe idea of raising the rents because few hippies feel so concerned about our polluted air and wasteful energy consumption.. like I said, if they can afford it, they can give the money for them then, I can't afford it so screw them. Plus I don't even use much electricity to begin with.

I live in communal student housing, and rent covers everything, including actual rent, utilities, food, and parties.

However, each of these items has a budget, and if for example we use more electricity than is budgeted, people have to pay extra.

Pekka, I wouldn't worry as long as they go with plan B, unless you happen to have a number of grow lamps in your apartment.
