Do you play WoW on the 12'' screen, or do you have an external display? If not, what's the gameplay like on that size a screen? How do you have the graphics set up as?

I'm not banned.

Though I will say you have to be mentally challenged to spend the money Apple asked for to get a PowerBook today, considering it's about 4 year old technology.

Far worse on batteries and far worse in performance than a Pentium M/Celeron M system, but who's counting.

They've been copying IBM ThinkPads for features (that ThinkPads have had for years) to try to make up for the dearth of actual upgrades...

Suffering from ads?

iBooks are even worse than PowerBooks. Even Aggie has said a few times you shouldn't get an iBook.

There are far better deals out there.

Yeah. I will by an external, but I haven't got around to it. I have the defaults. I haven't bothered tweaking it as it seems to work fine, and I'm only interested in mindless mayhem anyway.

The Yoda thing is funny. Just make sure the voice selected is Albert.

If you have a digital camera there is fun to be had. Garageband is cool too. It's probably a good idea to do the two finger scrolling hack I mentioned earlier. I find that indispensable - much better than a scroll wheel.

I'd forgotten about this. You can be pretty heavy with the parental controls in the new version of OS X. You can specify whether you must be notified if he wants to put someone on his chat list and what sites are banned and so on....

That's pretty amazing that they can read the barcode from the webcam. I wonder how consistent the results are, how extensive the library is, etc.

Question from one of those annoying utilitarian PC users: What is the point of having an index of the DVDs/books on your computer?

It's not like you can immediately access these items once you scan it in...

What's the point of having a desktop wallpaper? It's just another way for people to a.) spend their time, b.) waste their money or c.) do both at the same time.

Desktop wallpaper looks nice, it's a decoration.

Scanning barcodes is not a decoration.

Put an end to popups!

Checking out that website more, it has some neat features, but overall I could never fathom why I would do that, save out of sheer boredom. It says you can use the program to help you keep track of what movies/CDs/books you've loaned out to friends by dragging the item onto contacts in the Address Book, with the program telling you its due date. Sounds interesting, but definitely not worth my time. The way it's linked to Amazon, etc to provide info on the product and also related items is another cool feature that is already present in, for example, WMP as soon as you've updated the media info.

But seeing all your DVDs, books, CDs, etc like the program does is decoration. Granted, IMO not worth the effort really.

And I'm still fairly amazed that they've got webcams that can read the barcode with (I'm assuming) ease.

Some people like obsessively cataloging their stuff. I had a massive CD catalogue that I'd mark when I lent something out.
