Great to see a version 2.0 of this amazing scenario!! This is really a topnotch scenario that I think some people overlooked. Every civ2 player will be better off after slugging it out with the allies in this scenario!

I'm pretty happy with my own game going into 1943, advances have ground to a halt pretty much with losses building because of the new changes incorporated.
Well if there are no complaints or comments, I guess that's a wrap for DST.

Reached early 1944 and surrendered. The going has been tough, especially in South East Asia where I've only gotten as far as Kular Lumpur, Borneo and Sulawesi. Singapore, Java and Sumatra still remain in stubborn Allied hands and more than half my fleet was lost in the Singapore and Midway campaigns.
While I did manage to take Rabaul and Manus by massing the remainder of my capital ships there, it proved to be a major tactical mistake. The Allies managed to land in Iwo Jima at about the same time. As there was no home fleet to immediately retake it, marines and B-25s have begun to spawn there and there is no hope of ever recapturing it. Okinawa should be next to go.
Allied Carrier task forces are raiding without much resistance and their submarines are sinking ships at will. There aren't enough ships to screen the entire west flank and two thirds of my destroyer fleet has been lost via attrition....

The existing Jap fleet consists of three Yamato BBs and two smaller Nagato type battleships I managed to rush build after hostilites began - with the help of resources collected. Other forces such as aircraft (only one carrier lost) and men are still credible but its only a matter of time before its all over - the entire set of capital ships I started with are all at the bottom of the ocean, as well as most of my submarines and many other support ships.
Never got round to Burma and British forces are sweeping west and Bangkok is almost razed now in spite of regular reinforcements. And I was hoping to try out the Fall of Singapore and Burma Road events. maybe next time.

For your next try - I learned a few things
You may start off with a surplus of support ships but you have to keep building them throughout instead of concentrating on battleships. What's happened to me is pretty much what happened in history - my cap ships can't be deployed as they should - because a solitary sub or torpedo bomber would sink them when without escourt. You need a cruiser screen to kill off planes and a destroyers to detect subs. If your escourt gets sunk and there are no spares, you need to turn back.
Same applies to transports. Lost the transports on two attempts to ship artillery to Malaya which left Singapore in British hands. That's when I realized (too late) the need to get a land route all the way to Saigon - again much like in history.
Midway is a spawning point so you need to capture it early and I failed to position forces to land there at the onset. Again the classic mistake.
