Emotions

Well - I love demogames - and put a fair bit of time and effort into them. And they do become personal, even if still a game. That is the nature of a demogame, which expands beyond the simple game itself to include the whole gamut of relationships, diplomacy, personalities, and intrigue.

Hence, emptions play a part, and right now I am still very mightily pi$$ed at AM. And feeling somewhat sheepish for our trusting nature. BOH have proven to be a bunch of snakes, so we can expect it from them. But AM - what the he11 are they thinking of.

I'll get over it - but I am so kicking myself for getting us involved in the TNA to start with. There - once again, thanks for listening. And if anyone else wants to vent - be my guest.

and oh yes - paddy's little quip with the save was very much uncalled for.

Public Forum

I have SO wanted to let loose at Plato and ormuzd in the public forum - started to write things, and in both cases - backed off and left without posting.

I am not sure what we should do publicly - if anything. On the one hand, silnece can be effective. But it certainly hasn't got us very far. And it maybe cathartic to let loose on AM and BOH in public - as long as we do it with style, and not get into the muck raking - or let it get to us personally - which is why I have avoided posting for now.

Diplomacy

So - as you can see from the other threads - it would appear that LB is still on side - despite my diplomatic faux pas. Euphorica - what that is worth - are still with us. We can assume that AM and BOH are pretty tight. So that leaves DR. I have asked 1889 to approach them - but I think we should engage them in a serious diplomatic effort to see where they stand, and to try and win them over to a 4 on 2 scenario. That may include promises of tech and gold and allegiance - but it may be our best shot and avoiding elimination and doing a number on BOH.

Or - does anyone think we can salvage peace with BOH and AM ? Do we want to?

Or do we simply ally with LB and make the best of it?

If we could get LB to actually distract BOH from us, we might even have a chance to put it on with AM. (Wow, so many abbreviations :eeek: )

About ranting publically: With style it´s ok. Just add a few temple sacrificing stories and assassination teams and it will look like proper roleplay. Don´t argue with them on a personal level, but maybe a few PMs might be in order? I doubt they know what they´re doing to their reputation (as someone put it already)...

LB are our last hope. Should they leave us, we will have to go berserking. Don´t let them have anything from us!!!

My view is: we can't get peace with AM: the public betrayal and their acknowledgement of their betrayal is too much, atm.

We can achieve Peace with BoH (but in my view it would be temporary and purposeful).

Paddy himself is very emotional. He can see insult when there is none to be found. Whether intentional, or not, he has used that to his advantage in this demogame.

PLATO is gloating, Aqua is smirking, and even the A-M boys are rubbing salt in the wound. It's all a bit much right now.

I really can't imagine any posting -- no matter how insightful, imaginative and sophisticated would make any difference with this crowd.

The problem is if I stop posting I might as well quit. This is a game to be played out on the forum. BUT, wow Paddy can dish it out in public and in private - says it's all role play - fine. But as soon as I call them Whored Morons, he tells me ooc to clean up my posts. WHAT?!?!?!

I just think this game has been ruined with lies all the way around. There are 3 teams I don't trust at all (Eu, BOH, and AM). DR hasn't had much chance to lie to us, but they have plenty of reason. LB/1889 I don't have a feel for any more.

In game what do we do? What about all of this gold. Can't we rush some defensive units? We play nice with LB, and maybe DR. But I really think we need to close our borders and information to the outside world. Ask for peace and rebuild quietly while we can.

we need as much cash for any unit upgrades, but we ARE using as much shortrushing as possible.

Shortrush - a practice where you make up for a production shortfall with rushing to a LESSER value Item, then allowing regular production to finish build sooner. Can NOT be used for Wonder builds.

Example, from last turn's save:
Babylon had 9 shields towards an original spearman build, with the original plan to have it finished next turn, with a WF change to get the 11 shields. It was rushed to the 20 shield point (at 44 gold) then changed to Horseman with the WF change to 11 SPT. THis still has something built at the same time, but now will be a higher sheild item in the same time frame.

Example, for next turn:
IT is building Bowman, but it had to change it's WF because PoA needed 1 more sheild for this turn. So, it will only have 9 of the 20 shields for that build. We will shortrush it, to a warrior/worker (up to 10, for 4 gold) and change the WF back to finish it the next turn.


As for Rushing, IT had just built it's last build, so it would have been DOUBLE to rush something from scratch. Now, we COULD have Rushed a warrior from scratch (for 80 gold, almost as much as upgrading a Warrior to MI) and changed it to Bowman, to still get that the same turn, but I needed to change the WF for that turn and wasn't able to do that.

Skro - I just read some of your latest public posts. They are a bit edgy. And not sure what you wre doing slagging Euphorica - although a little smoke and mirrors there is not necessarily a bad thing.

Why don'y you cool it for a bit - and I will take over.

I will keep my comments directed at BOH. I will also try to keep them on the up and up - clearly Roleplay, but with a message.

I was thinking of attacking AM, but don't want to burn that bridge completely yet.

Well, I did have plans for Mass Production, of all Mil Units, but:

1) AM took Fel and threatens other cities. This also effects our cashflow, as our Unit cost has increased and the additional loss of Income.
2) only 3 Barracks cities, with one surrounded by Barbs and losing a vital Worker that we going to get that city up to 10 SPT (after mining hills, ect).
3) Plans were to get Babylon up to 15 SPT, but that takes time, with Hill Mining.
4) All other cities are too low in SPT to really do much, but the Harbor in Hookah was changed to Bowman, just in time, too.

* E_T wishes that he had 20 more turns to get things up and running

It's really hard to stiffen Spit with buckshot.... But I'm trying my best.

Ok, this is the time for me to say goodbye! I will soon depart for my summer vacation in France, most likely without internet access for quite some time. Fortunately I didn´t hold any important post here, so there´s no damage done. Skro did a great job with diplo, and should he get back to good relations with the Euphoriscians, there´s nothing that could stop our diplomatic war machinery. Sadly, it isn´t backed by a real military, but that´s another story...

So, best of luck in these times of war, have fun! See you soon, hopefully in these forums (and not in a BOH prison camp)...
