Floods in Bombay, 400 dead Tired of ads?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4723335.stm

quote:
At least 430 people are now known to have died in monsoon rains in the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay) and elsewhere in the state of Maharashtra.

More than half died in Mumbai, where flights and trading on financial markets are suspended while the navy helps with the rescue effort.

Thousands remain stranded amid fears the number of dead could rise.

According to officials, the rain on Tuesday was the heaviest recorded in a single day in India.

More than 65cm (26 inches) fell in Bombay.

This is some of the most f****** wierd weather in Mumbai ( formerly known as Bombay ) . The world's rainiest place is Cherapunji . Cherapunji holds a world record for the amount of rain in a day . Mumbai just broke that record . Mumbai recieved the highest rainfall ever seen anywhere in the world ever at all . The city's storm water drains , though efficient for normal rain and normal storms , were not designed for deluges of Biblical proportions .

Makes me sad about the death toll .

Jesus, I've not heard a thing until this until now...shows how little the news is bothered about those 'foreigners'. Same went for that nasty business in Egypt...hardly touched...
