The show was cancelled years ago. In fact, there may be an unaired episode if I recall correctly.

IIRC, there were three unaired episodes, which were supposed to be on the DVD set. Don't know if they'll be showing them, though.

They just did the "Serenity" episodes, the flashback.

The trailer for the new movie looks great.

The show has aged well. This was easily the best setting for a space opera. I do love this show.

Hell, if the movie does well enough, maybe the series will be picked up again.

Nah, it isn't a live action series (like Family Guy). All the actors have undoubtably moved on to other projects.

It was a good show, but I sometimes get tired of the fanboy cultism around it (in some areas).

I'd be happy if it turns into a movie franchise.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

The show actually started at 6, but they were advertising for 7. That was very annoying, since I missed the first half of the pilot.

The movie looks cool, and its nice that it is a continuation were the show left off.

That's not a flashback. That's what SHOULD have been the trailer but Fox aired the episodes all out of order.

Um... if you think that the Firefly movie is all they have on their plates for the foreseeable future, you are in la la land .

Adam Baldwin for one, has been in a number of things.

Yeah, I checked IMDb. Most of them have done a number of really minor things since the original show was cancelled, and I might point out that the producers were able to bring the entire original cast back to do the movie. To me that indicates that on the whole they're not that busy, so it might be possible to resurrect the series if there was enopugh audience interest and sponsors could be lined up.

Put an end to popups!

Just recently been introduced to Firefly. Brilliant

Here we were, running out of Star Trek episodes to watch and along comes something to make Star Trek seem rather dated.

Can't wait to see the movie - who could imagine? A Hollywood movie better than the hype?

Getting someone back for a movie is vastly different than getting them together for a TV series. The movie, for one, will pay more and is over far shorter.

Morena Baccarin, played Inara, is on another TV series of her own. Adam Baldwin (come on... can't have the show without him) has done a few movies and miniseries since Firefly all which would most likely pay better than a TV series (I'm sure he got some good money for "Into the West", for example). Gina Torres has done a number of films, including the last Matrix one. Joss Whedon, the creator and writer for a number of episodes, is now working on the new Wonder Woman movie.

I don't think it's feasible to get them all back together for another run at Firefly. Unless you want to dramatically overhaul half of the cast.

Put an end to popups!

It just came out here on dvd recently.
It's one of those series that's just so good that I have to use all of my willpower to stretch it out over a couple of weeks - otherwise I'd probably watch the whole thing straight through.

How on earth did the exec nitwits manage to cancel anything that good?

It's FOX. If it doesn't involve sharks attacking babies, trailer trash throwing sharks at each other across the stage, or yuppies eating chairs for sustanence it's too much of a good thing.

Apparently they couldn't even show the episodes in order, so the show appeared disjointed and illogical. Fools.

I'm not sure about disjointed but they apparently felt at the time that "Serenity' just didn't cut it as the pilot and didn't air it until last.
The dvd contains 15 episodes including the 3 (?) that weren't aired.
I've watched the 'first' 9 and haven't seen anything that appeared out of order so I guess they got it right when they put that together.
Not that there seemed to be much of a chronological progression anyway ...

The episodes are in the correct order on the DVD, and they were aired in the correct order in Canada (and included the 3 episodes that were not aired on Fox). Sci-Fi is currently airing them in production order, too.

I remember seeing something in which most of the cast said they would drop everything to do Firefly again. It may have been one of the DVD special features.

they all seemed to have a good time

I think that Whedon is more hoping for a miniseries or a series of movies
