Decision point for MoW/Consuls/team Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

This is up to MoW and Consuls (and of course, the team):

If we send out EW#2 to explore, we spend down our treasury (cash researve) to 2 gold, before IW is finished (actually, about 6 turns before).

If we keep him home and send out EW #3, then we can save 2 more gold (and we will have 4 gold, at the same time).

Granted, it's not much, and we really need to have that explorer out, but it might make a difference, in IW completeion, if we get a EW from a hut, at some time.

Also, even though the next one will be only 2 turns later, it would leave us undefended, for that time. We would likely not have any problems, but then, you never know...

I want as much scouting as possible to the East and then North and up the grain river. The sooner we see what's out there, the sooner we can finalise plans and get more team input on settlement plans.

Send enk2 out would be my vote.

enk2 - should explore than too. (next turn)
To know land and maybe find a hut (bevore it a other get) is more than the 4 gold can give us.

I lean more towards keeping Enk2 at home.

First, there is a small chance that the 2-4g saved will be necessary to discover a technology 1-2 turns earlier. Knowing the layout of the land 3 turns sooner will probably not make that much of a difference. It will take that long to just work our any trade agreements with anybody we discover in that time anyways.

second, Enk3 will be out and will show our city sites for city #2 prior to the settler being made. This is the most valuable mission of our early explorers, and regardless of wheter it is 2 or 3, it will be done in time.

third, we typically play very conservatively. Lets keep that up. Keeping #2 at home is the safe move, so lets be safe.

Against is the fact that everybody knows that we play thigns safe, so most civs will guess/know that our #2 is at home still.

2g. Enk3 comes 2 turns after Enk2. The Plan(tm) has seven gold in the bank when IW is complete. Not a crucial issue, IMO.

Exploring is seldom done in time, from past experience. The earlier we know, the better we can plan.

ET and I both agree that we want the river scouted up to the North, but there is a lot of other ground to cover as well and only 12 turns to do it in between Enk3 and Settler1. Add 2 turns to that and you've increased our scouting time by ~15%. That's not insignificant, is it?

Looking at the mini map and the closeness of the tundra to the jungle, I think we are on a small or tiny map. I strongly advise keeping #2 home. This will be a rough game with this small of a map.

How long have the other teams had scouts out?

edit: Looks like they have been scouting for 6 turns now. With a tiny map, they could be real close.

NYE, the plan was modified, with the extra trade from roading Apoi WF #4 first, instead of Mining first. This netted us the ADDITIONAL trade needed to get IW 1 turn sooner. Which, kept us for getting that additional gold (at the last turn of reseach, mind you). So, we WON'T have that 7 in he bank, just 2 (and IW 1 turn sooner).

We are on a Standard Map. This is confired via tech costs.

As to why Emporer built this map this way, is beyond me.....

Map size is standard.

With only 6 civs, we should expect more room than normal, not less.

I'd sooner spend two gold on a better city site for our second city than bank it.

Get a bigger avatar today!

it seems we will have enough information by the time our settler is produced.

IMO all we gain sending a scout two turns earlier is the ability to pop a hut. Everything else is less important.

- we will have the information about our second city anyway
- we will be well defended anytime
- we will use the tech reduction after meeting a civ when we have have research 80% of the tech
- as GK any trade deal may be delayed for many reasons, so the speed here is not important either

What we could loose is leaving a hut to our eventual neighbour.

Maybe the map was 'balanced' to compensate for the presence of certain resource tiles. The jungles could have been shifted to the north a bit, and the tundras to the south.

Population 40000 - 4th. (remains at 4th).
PAL likely to have produced a worker last turn.
Reasoning : Our population improved from 5th to 4th last turn, I suspected it was PAL or BAT because CBR and CDZ were at Pop 3. But this turn BAT population increases, therefore leaving PAL as the most likely candidate.
BAT (Delhi) grows to Pop 3, they are at +4 food.

Although we are at +5 Food, our Family size has gone down from 2nd to 1st. One of the team may have > +5 Food this turn! However, the Family Size F11 score is seldom analysed and its definition may not be properly understood.

GNP 7m = 3rd. (GNP +1m from last turn, position from 2nd to 3rd)
This turn order. >7, >7, 7, 7, 6, 6
Last turn order. 7, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6
We switch tile to SG, +1m but our position dropped to 3rd.

Mfg Goods 3 - 5th (Mfg - 1, position from 2nd to 5th)
This turn oder. >5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2
Last turn order. 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3
We switch to SG, -1 in Mfg, position dropped to 5th. One team has Mfg at 2, probably switching tiles to maximise food/trade.

Productivity , 15 = 4th. (Productivity no change, position from 2nd to 4th)
This turn order. >15, >15, >15. 15. 14. 14
Last turn order. >15, 15, 14, 14, 14, 13
3 teams at Pop 3. We are 4th in Productivity. Makes sense.

Military Svcs - 5th, (remains at 5th)
CDZ, BAT, PAL, CBR have 2 Warriors or more.
Poly has 1 Endiku Warrior. CGN has 0 or 1 Warrior

That hill 4-4-4 of the mountain is a very good example of why we should always move Cardinal directions (8, 6, 2, 4) if we have a choice. You get more tiles that come into view or may come into view.
