Price Point - ENOUGH! Full PM-box? Change here!

I wish people would stop saying price point. It aggravates me unnecessarily. Price is a perfectly good word and doesn't need 'point' placed on the end.

The world is full of richard craniums.

I'ld stop using that saying if you paid me enough. At what price point would you be willing to do the deal?

I could care less about the price point at this moment in time. People should never not write good, irregardless.

We all remember the day when fag meant cigarette, when orgies were innocent parties, when gay meant joyous, and when going to a gay orgy with some fags was a normal, everyday way to spend the time.

It is the point at which a price can safely be defined a price point.

Ah, Thanks for the clarification Verto....so it's an economics term/indicator then - basically the "equilibrum price" that the market influences...

Price points are prices for which demand is relatively high. In introductory microeconomics we are told that a demand curve is downward sloping to the right and either linear or gently convex to the origin. The first is usually true, but with regard to the second, in reality, price surveys indicate that demand for a product is not a linear function of its price and not even a smooth function. Demand curves look more like a series of waves than a straight line.

Price point is more of a Retail Term. However, it more than likely comes from where Verto describes.

We do not use it as Verto describes, however, simply using it to denote *any* price at which we choose to sell something. It definitely has some connotations of 'levels' however just as Verto suggests (though not for the same reasons) - rather than a linear pricing structure, there's a stepped structure (upping the price on a book from $3.95 to $4.02, for example, we'll wait until we are willing to go at least up to $4.50 if not $4.95).

"I think that book would sell better at the $3.95 pricepoint than at the $4.95 pricepoint."

Us retail folk tend to use "price" as a verb and "pricepoint" as the noun... it's all just lingo to confuse non-retail folks into thinking we're all fancy economists, when really I'm probably the only one within at least three levels (up OR down) in my (Fortune 500) company with an A.B. Economics

Ah yes...due to external factors like consumers changing tastes or governmntal/business control factors along with the "Human" nature involved with the purchases themselves... I understand now. Thanks again for the clarification Verto.
