What is a blog? Years ago I used to think it's just some kind of diary, just online. Nowadays it is used in press like it's nothing more than a forum.

It's your own piece of reality media. Most people aren't famous enough to have their own show, like Jessica Simpson, so they pollute the Interweb with stories of their lives.
It doesn't necessarily make it interesting on its own, but as a media development, it was interesting to look at.

I don't know, but I reckon it's a bit similar to why people watch reality TV. They don't know the person(s) involved, but feel some kind of attachment and urge to follow his/her/their life.

Not all blogs are diaries of personal life.
The blogs that the press makes a fuss about are those that focus on reporting and discussing political events, not last night's date.

A good French blog is http://maitre.eolas.free.fr It's about the life of a lawyer. Lots of interesting things about French laws, a few affairs (f.e. Guillermito, who wrote stuff before the word blog was even known).
He keeps many things technical, and there's a forum to answer or ask questions, but that's mostly Eolas talking. His blog would probably be more useful to those who want to hearn Fench law than most university courses.
