I love cheesy 80's action movies Full PM-box? Change here!

my guilty pleasure. The higher the body count, the better. The important question I ask you all is this: Which movie had the highest body count?

It's a tough call. I'd have to say Commando. But don't disregard the overkill action of movies such as Invasion USA and Predator. And don't forget Raw Deal. This is one of Arnold's lesser known movies, but definately worth watching.

Not all of them have to be modern day action. They could be fantasy action such as Conan the Barbarian. These are all classic.

And then futuristic action with the Mad Max movies.

You just can't make quality films like this now days. CGI just doesn't look very good. I was watching the Day After Tomorrow the other day. And the CGI looked horrible. I don't know why everyone says the special effects look good. The scenes of the humans running on the streets of New York looked fake, not to mention the birds flying.

I'd rather see scale model special effects, and lots of extras. And I like to see real cars banged up. Where stunt men were real stunt men.

Feel free to recommend other movies.

edit: I forgot to mention the most ultimate of them all. Rambo movies. The first one was the best and most realistic. 2 and 3 were in lala land. But good in their cheesiness.

I liked Conan, Raw Deal and Commando. Swarzennegar movies tend to be more palatable to me than most of this genre because of the humor. The same cannot be said for most Stallone movies, as any humor there is unintentional. I saw the second Rambo movies (not my idea btw) at the post movie theatre when I was in the Army. The almost immediate groans, unintentional laughter and boos would not have warmed the hearts of the moviemakers.

CGI and shakey cam scenes seem to be the order of the day now.

On the news the other night, there was a story about how going to the cinema was on the decline. Theatres were having to reduce their ticket prices in order to attract customers. The real reason for this decline is that Hollywood is producing nothing but mass market sludge. Sequels and remakes, and other cost cutting measures, have robbed mainstream films of their soul.

Now, back to the topic: Terminator certainly had a high body count.

First Blood is my favourite action film from that era.

I like cheesy 80's horror movies.

Return of the Living Dead

Re-Animator

House

Hellraiser

Evil Dead

Day of the Dead.

Horror is so much restrained nowadays. I miss the all out gore-fest horror comedies of the 80s. Sure, the new (and excellent) japanese stuff might scare the crap out of me 10 times than all 80s horror movies combined, but they are just not so fun to watch repeatedly.

You forget about the beginning when they destroy an entire guerrilla camp/village.

And the famous line "Stick Around" as Arnold throws a knife into the guys throat and goes through into the wall behind him pinning him (at least I think it was the throat- or some other body part)

I hear you about shakey cams. I like Man on Fire, but that shakey cam is very annoying.

Man on Fire has a lot of violence, but you really can't classify it as a cheesy action film. Though you have to wonder how he could go through Mexico City and kill that many people... Not very realistic. But this movie has good production values and good acting, along with a dramatic element. If it weren't for that damn camera...

How good is that last Bruce Lee movie where he fights all those other martial arts on different stages? What's that name again, Tower of Death or something? And yes, he died during working on that movie.

I like films where Steven Seagal is overweight and has a ponytail and kills people with his eyelashes of death and kung fu eyebrow grip.
