	Problem with the patch: CD 'required' Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

I got the following problem:
The original game (registry says version 1.0) works.
But after I installed the patch I get a message
'Put your Call to Power CD 2 CD in your CD-ROM drive.'
whenever I try to start a new game (after I click on the Launch button).

So I tried to install the patch manually, piece be piece ... and ... it is the ctp2.exe that causes the problem. I compared both ctp.exe (the 1.0 and the 1.1) by a hexeditor and there are only three groups of bytes that are different, in total about 10 bytes.
Do you think I might find out which group of bytes causes the problem and use the 1.0 version for this group of bytes (i.e. to mix both 1.0 and 1.1 executables)?

Or do you have any other idea what is the problem?

Of course the CD is present. (But it is not a CD but a DVD - I got the game as a "full game" on a DVD of a game magazine).
