Anytime you are not sure, grab your Zonealarm firewall (freeware) and just lock your internet connection. It takes less than five seconds.

unable to resolve.. I guess you need someone who actually knows about networks to trace it down for you.. all I get is separate IP addresses after London.

ARIN WHOIS says it belongs to Google. It's probably from the toolbar or from using the search.

Edit: The entire 64.223.183.* range is Google's.

You probably have some nasty spyware type program that got inserted right into your operating system. It's probably trying to have ads sent to you. For the life of me I can't see how the courts can NOT make that sort of thing illegal.

No. ZoneAlarm is an application level firewall. You need a packet level firewall to do that. If you are using a switch (Linksys etc.) it should have a firewall in there.

If your firewall is worth anything, it will flash a warning to you that an effort has been made to access your pc.
How often it flashes depends on level on which you set for notification.

If you are talking about one of those little boxes you connect to a cable or DSL modem at one end with multiple ports (usually 4) at the other, it should.

You can usually access the configuration by pointing your browser at 192.168.0.1 (or something like that).

If you suspect you have spyware I suggest you get a spyware program. There are several to choose from but I can personally recommend NoAdaware. To keep spyware off your pc to begin there are programs designed for that as well, SpywareBlaster being one of them. Microsoft now has a free spyware available http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en It's in a beta test right now but it's worth a try.
