but not made out of lolipop sticks. I think he deserves an honoury 'viking' tag - even if he is from jacksonville(is that east coast? the vikings did land there before Columbus discorvered the Americas - so he could be blood related).

It was around Minnesota wasn't it? In theory with the "vinland saga's" anyway. I think they did make a landing - there are some interesting myths(and odd genetics) among the native american peoples from around that area they supposidly did land.

If this guy is from Florida then he could be one of those 'sea dogs' types - people who move to where they can keep a boat easily.
I rekon he could be a real viking and i like what he's done - - i'd buy him a beer, exchange salty seadog stories and tell him he is crazy

And extra for that link black cat - wooden boats, hides and sails: makes me want to sign up for another such adventure right away

which could be a serious problem. Maybe they used a very flexible glue to counter this? In fact it could be misleading saying its made of lolipop sticks if there is so much glue in the build. Still it seems like a bad idea - hope all his crew can swim, and it isnt water soluble glue

Yep, and a good seastrong follower boat

I'm not sure what kind of wood that are used to lollipop stick except that it isn't oak, so even if the glue may give elasticity to the ship, I doubt that the "wood" can take very much beating from the sea.

Here in Fargo we have a replica viking ship that was sailed from Duluth to Norway back in the 70's. The museum it is housed in is also the location of an annual scandinavian festival we have here every summer.
