In case of Disaster in ur home Got spare money?

In case of a disaster what would you grab trying to escape ur home.
We just had a fire class and were told of the escape exits u need to have for u and ur family. I am like for god sake we live on the 2nd floor there is no escape route besides jumping out of the window. We have no fire escape. For me id grab a few sheets my kids and husband and throw our cats out the window if they are in the room we are in. How bout you??

I'd take a pretty rosary that I got for my confirmation. It's small, easy to carry, and it goes with me everywhere I go. Of course I live out in the country, so it's not as difficult to get out of the house, and we don't need to worry about fire escapes.

Anyone that's inside... aside from that, nothing. It's just material junk. Well, alright, I would take my potter's wheel if it didn't weigh a ton.

Why would you take sheets?

What makes you think that? Fire doesn't burn any slower in the country.

Yes, you'd just need to walk through a raging fire. A window to jump out of during a fire is actually a blessing. Being in a bungalow doesn't really mean you'll have a less difficult time escaping from a fire.

I don't think that's a realistic plan for a fire. It's not likely that you would have the time to tie the sheets together and climb down. If anything, tossing pillows or something out first would probably be the best bet if you've got small children, otherwise it's best to just jump. (assuming we're tlaking second story)

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Sorry GL but if the fire was in my living room the only window we have is in the bed room and out that window is a pile of rocks and stuff and since i have a king size mattress it might be better and faster to tie the sheets then try to fold the mattress and get it out the window

In case of a fire, I'd grab my high school diploma and my college diploma. And my two books "The 48 Laws of Power" and the "47 Ronin".

My sister never graduated high school nor college, and the two books mean more to me than normal.

Mrs. Tuberski - get yourself one of those emergency hook ladders that you can use out of your window. Seriously. You never know when something like that can happen, they are not that expensive, and you have kids. Do you have a fire extinguisher? If you've read my posts, you'll understand why I take not being prepared for fires a little bit more seriously than your average person.

(and my picture of my grandmother in my wallet).

I'd just throw my mattress out of the window and try and aim for it when I jump out. Fortunately, I'm not too far off the ground. But my diploma's, the book, and the pic of my grandma are things I don't want to lose.

While I would love to grab my computer in time, realistically I would just get myself out of the house, and my girlfriend if she wasn't already out too. Maybe my wallet.

Both are really good. 48 Laws of Power is nonfiction, but its not one of those too-preachy books. 47 Ronin shows the loyalty of the samurai and lengths to which some men go through for vengeance...or justice.

my dog. Everything else is worthless. I always wonder so often I hear about house fires in my city, and they say the humans get out alive. They almost always do. But so often I hear the pets die. It saddens me to think of a family pet dying in such a way.

Yeah I realize the pet is probably scared, and won't come when you order it too. But I'd have no choice, but to pick up my dog (she is 50 pounds) and carry her out.
