We have played 20 turns.
Our economic plans are continuing. We are a bit big on units and are a bit behind on the granery build. That should right itself soon as we get 2 quick settlers and then 4 turn Enk-Settler out of Poly. Could we have done better? Will we do our best?
Our diplomacy is just beginning. We have contact with CBR and Aro is doing well in keeping things freindly with them. I regard that as an accomplishment, as I was led to believe that CBR could be quite erratic. Still, there are other civs to meet and get to know. Have we done our best? Will we get good results diplomatically?
The military is large, comparatively, and we are 'merely' exploring. Still, with second cities being founded, we can expect our neighbours to be building more units, soon. On the topic of exploration, I don't see it as an afterthought. It is critical to the early phase of 4X games. How are we doing? Could you help us do better?
Regarding information, do any of you lurkers think you really know what is going on? Have you read the ten or more threads scattered about to be able to get on top of what is happening? Are you missing something? What could be done better?
The purpose of this thread is to ask some pointed questions, and to canvass for people who would like to get more involved. Ministers sometimes depart us for reasons beyond their control, or ours (RL is a harsh mistress). Even when we have active ministers in an area, it is often beneficial to have more people paying attention and spitballing ideas. It is all too easy for ministers, or Consuls, to adopt a point of view and then charge off down the tunnel created by the 'vision'. The more people who pay attention to any given area, the greater the likelihood will be that better ideas emerge. At least that is my view on the matter.
So. What say you? Yes, you. You, the guy reading this. This is addressed straight to you. Are you interested in getting more involved? Can you lead discussions? Are you a cub reporter? Can you spend some time planning? Do you see yourself as a general, a diplomat, a city planner? If we come up short in a ministry, do you have the 'right stuff' to step up and fill the void?
Or, maybe you aspire to one of these fancy Consul chairs. I can say from experience that they are rather comfortable. I can tell you from experience, the road to my seat begins with getting involved.
So, how about it? The nation wants you!
Step up to the line, tell us what area you are interested in, and take the coin. Sign up, today!

Diplomacy seems good to me so far, I like the stay one space away from borders agreement.
I am wondering at the city founding pace but have complete faith in E_T.
Exploring is my main gripe, and it's not neccesarily a big one even, but I'm wondering why we're exploring the tundra to our north when the entire east and much of the south remains unexplored even a little bit. Mountain top to mountain top exploring is all well and good, but when it leads you to an artic wasteland, it becomes prohibitive.

Give them time, and they could very well blossom into the heathen from round one. They only get one first impression, and they will keep on while building up an army to destroy us. After all, after we met them, a lot of posters said that they will need to be eliminated. Who's to say that they're not thinking the same thing?

The thought behind going North was the idea that we might settle that way with the second city to get the benefit of river and wheat (2 turn worker pump). However, to know if that is a good idea, we have to know what is N of the wheat. |
I realize that, but we did this circular path to get there, and we've gone deeper into the artic than we should have, once we hit the tundra, we should have headed to warmer climates. but anyways...
